"Just reading your manuscript cursed me. From Friday to Sunday, I locked myself out of four places, dealt with two broken toilets and a broken garage, wound up making five trips to Home Depot, and paid seventy dollars in locksmith fees. I don't think I want a copy of your actual book; that would be like keeping a mini Bermuda Triangle in my home." Jennifer Dudanowicz, Esq. Life Gives Me Lemons: Adventures in Bad Luck and Bold Misfortune When a globetrotting journalist with rotten luck hits the road, she never knows what's going to happen. C.J. Feehan has been run over by her own car, caused an avalanche at a Canadian ski resort, been chased by a black bear while biking, and had the engine of a rental car explode on a Colorado mountain pass. She's even faced ostracism from her family after a weekend trip to Mexico. Feehan has learned to laugh and persevere, despite the bad luck that plagues her from coast to coast-and even Europe. Based on the German concept of Schadenfreude (finding pleasure in someone else's misery), Life Gives Me Lemons: Adventures in Bad Luck and Bold Misfortune features twenty-one humorous stories ranging from near-death experiences to embarrassing despair. Readers will find themselves smiling at images of a 5-year-old who thinks she can run down a ladder and sympathizing with a hiker who has blisters the size of Everest. The author's uncanny ability to emerge relatively unscathed when fate throws obstacles in her path provides the link that binds these unforgettable stories into an epic narrative. Freelance sportswriter and editor C.J. Feehan's articles have appeared in Ski Racing Magazine, The Stowe Reporter, S-Media Snowsports Culture, and on NCAA.com. She was born and raised in Randolph, New Jersey, graduated from Skidmore College, and earned a master's degree with a creative writing concentration from Dartmouth College. The author has worked as a professional ski coach, college professor, and preparatory school humanities teacher while living in California, British Columbia, and New England. Feehan currently resides in Burlington, Vermont, where she happily consumes real maple syrup when she's not off chasing snowstorms or her next storyline.

When I was in 5th grade and went to the school social worker for depression. The social worker pointed out to me a little nick-knack on her desk that said "When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade". As if saying, I just needed to make the best of a bad situation. Sounded like a load of crap to me when I was in 5th grade, and still sounds like a load of crap today. When you are given Tequila at a bar, you can ask the bartender for training wheels (lemon and salt). If you lick the salt, squeeze a drop of lemon in your mouth, and then take a shot of Tequila a funny thing happens. The Tequila isn't as harsh as it was. Doesn't burn when it goes down your throat, or upset your stomach. Being disabled can be like a glass of Tequila. It is painful both sometimes emotionally and physically. However if you can find something from life that you enjoy. Focus on that, rather than the negative aspects of your life. You can begin to enjoy life too.

When life has handed him way too many ridiculous absurdities, the smart-mouthed and quick-witted Zack Peter decides that life's lemons aren't bestowed for selfish affairs such as making lemonade. In a wild concoction of hilariously brash narratives, Zack recounts all of his life's most erratic moments, shaping the character he is today. Whether it's trying to convince his principal that the reason his hair is orange is because his mother made him color it, arguing with his great-grandmother over whether she's taking a shot of gin or just drinking her ""medicine,"" or being voted the team's least valuable player, Zack really knows how to take life's lemons... and chuck them in the other direction, for the sake of his sanity; and sometimes at the cost of others'. Welcome to very unique life of Zack...
