It begins with the first manuscript in the collection of the "Letters to Washington," and ends with the date of his arrival at Cambridge, July 2, 1775, when he took command of the armies of the United Colonies: that is to say, to the period that has been partially covered by Sparks's correspondence of the American Revolution.
