This is the sixth book in the LET'S GO FLY series of six picture books that follows the aviation adventures of a boy and his Grandpa. For children aged two and older, the series tells the adventures of Billy and Grandpa in an airplane, a helicopter, a glider, a hot air balloon, a seaplane, and a twin-engine airplane. Grandpa is the pilot, and he explains the art of flying to Billy, and he often gives his grandson copilot duties. They are joined by a colorful cartoon bird named Loop Skyhopper who acts as a guide, helps with explaining the details of each story, and adds to the fun from a bird's point of view. Each story is told in twenty-two colorful panels that will spark the curiosity and imagination of eager young pilots. Every adventure is available individually, or the entire series can be obtained in a single edition.LET'S GO FLY A TWIN is the sixth book in the adventure series. Grandpa is planning to use a twin-engine airplane for a business trip and invites Billy to come, too. The pair inspect the airplane together, and Billy learns there are controls for each engine. Also, the speedy twin has retractable landing gear, and computerized flight instruments. On their way to the next town, Billy combines sightseeing with his copilot duties. He admires the clouds as they fly high over them for better speed, and he sees a train crossing a trestle far below them. It looks like a toy train. When they arrive at their destination, an airport lineman guides them to their parking place. After they park the twin, they have lunch at the airport café where Grandpa asks Billy how he likes flying in a twin.LET'S GO FLY AN AIRPLANE is the first book in the series. It follows Billy and Grandpa as they inspect the airplane together. Billy discovers wonderful things like wings, a propeller, a rudder, and all kinds of gages and radios. After the thrill of lift off, Billy discovers the fun of seeing his town from the air. Later they see fishermen on the river, and then fly in circles over Billy's house where his Mom waves to them from below.LET'S GO FLY A HELICOPTER is the second book in the adventure series. Upon lift off, Grandpa and Billy stand still in a hover, and then Grandpa shows him how to fly forward, backward, sideways, and spin in circles. Later, they fly low over the trees and town, and then Grandpa takes them to Billy's home where his Mom waves to them as they hover outside.LET'S GO FLY A GLIDER is the third book in the series. Billy discovers that gliders have very long wings to help them stay in the air longer. After they reach the proper altitude, Grandpa and Billy release from the tow plane, and soon encounter strong lift that carries them so high they soar with a falcon and another sailplane. And they go even higher where they find cool air and see the dark blue color of the sky at high altitude.LET'S GO FLY A BALLOON is the fourth book in the series. Billy gets to go inside the balloon while he and Grandpa join the ground crew in filling the balloon and preparing it for launch. Drifting along with the wind, Billy chats with a boy on the ground, and he is thrilled when they drop down to a few inches above the surface of a lake. Later, he is excited when he spots a herd of deer scampering into the woods. There is more fun when they coast over a river bridge, and he is thrilled when they climb to a dizzying height above the clouds.LET'S GO FLY A SEAPLANE is the fifth book in the series. Billy and Grandpa inspect a floatplane from the dock of a seaplane base. With the windows open they scoot across the water in an exciting launch. Once airborne, the explorers decide to land on a river, where they see men fishing from the pontoons of another seaplane. The river is a tight spot for their next takeoff, so Grandpa lifts off on one float for a quicker takeoff, and then he steers them under a bridge on the rousing climb out.

A Civil Rights Story about Massive Resistance and School Closures in the South. Based on actual events. The high school was closed to resist being integrated - perhaps forever! - and the town was split down the middle into two opposing camps. This is the historical backdrop for this coming-of-age novel about 2 young boys (one white -- one black) growing up in a small southern town during the 1950s when school integration collided with Massive Resistance and life in the peaceful little town was thrown into chaos. Based on actual events that happened between 1956 and 1960 in Front Royal, Virginia; this compelling story reveals the often overlooked depth of the human side of the story. The action is depicted through a collection of snap-shots of whites and blacks which creates a wide-angle montage. Their stories give clarity and dimension to the historical events. The story combines strong characters, heartwarming scenes, psychological tension, humor, 1950s nostalgia, and even a murder mystery.

High school senior Taylor Pope is infatuated with Mia Peltz, an all-American girl and aspiring model that grew up in his home town of Chestnut Hill. Humiliated and betrayed by the events that unfolded at a school dance, Taylor gets behind the wheel of his sports car and, in a driving frenzy, crashes at high speed in an accident that should have ended his life. Taylor survives the crash without so much as a scratch, however, having regained consciousness, he now finds himself in another dimension. A world very different from his own, and governed by people known as Zhaarians. He has unintentionally crossed into a world that does not wish its existence to be known, and while Taylor's needs are met, the decision awaits on whether to return him back to his home. While stranded in this strange dimension, he meets a young Zhaarian called Una, who carries a striking resemblance to Mia. Despite romance between them being forbidden, their attraction for one another is instant and they soon fall in love. However, Taylor's troubles have only just started, and while his own life hangs in the balance, he must discover a way of stopping those whose means are to destroy Earth, and ultimately end all existence in the first dimension. Dual is an unconventional love story that simply knows no bounds, where the concept of true love, and the struggle to keep it, is very much real.

Twins, Nia and Ngaire are self-reliant, intensely interested in the wildlife of the land and sea in the part of New Guinea where they live. Since they were quite young, the twins have accompanied their patrol officer on many trips through the bush and by sea to the small islands that abound. At eleven years of age they are sent to boarding school in Australia where they find the life style rather stifling to their free spirits. At last the long summer holidays arrive and the twins can return home to their free and independent way of life. Keen naturalists, they plan to sail together with their dog Lik-lik to explore an island and the reefs that surround it. Little do they know that they will be sailing straight into a host of dangers, shipwreck, komodo dragons, giant squid, and most deadly of all, criminals with guns who are determined to keep their secret at all cost. An exciting read for children age 8 to 13 years. The author lived for many years in just such a part of New Guinea, and the wildlife encounters have the basis of actual experience.
