Excerpt from Report of the Commissioners of the District of Columbia: Together With the Reports of the Board of Audit and the Board of Health, Transmitted to Congress With the Annual Message of the President; December 7, 1874 That the offices of eleven assessors be abolished, and the persons holding the same discharged from this date; That the secretary notify the physicians to the poor to make their report for the quarter ending the 3oth ultimo; That one watchman be continued at the legislative hall, subject to the direction of the engineer, and all other officers and employés therein discharged; That the comptroller, auditor, and treasurer of the District be, and are hereby, constituted a commission to receive from the late treasurer of the board of public works all moneys, bonds, and other securities in his possession; to ascertain and specifically inventory the same, and thereupon to deposit the same in the Treasury of the United States to the credit and subject to the orders of the commissioners of the District.
