A book packed with monologues, duologues, script extracts and other stimuli for performance. It is aimed at young performers from pre teens to young adults. The Drama Pot 3 follows on from the success of The Drama Pot & The Drama Pot 2. The book has been written by a drama teacher with over twenty years experience which includes heading up a performing arts faculty in a secondary school, GCSE and A-Level examining and most currently residing as the principal of a successful theatre school. She also has her work published in the 2019 LAMDA Acting Anthology. The original monologues and scenes can be used for class work, festivals, exams, and there are also some great script starters, which make great starting points for children to create their own performance work. The monologues have guidance on age suitability and there is a good mix of male and female characters, with some written as non-gender specific in order to give the performer a wider selection of pieces to choose from. This collection of creative material would be a great asset to any drama teacher's resources and be of benefit to primary and secondary schools as well as youth groups, and those preparing for auditions. "A great series of books, funny, sad and heart warming. Like a little sidekick in paperback form! The Drama Pot 1 and 2 are extremely reliable resources for all genres of monologue. The author has, thankfully, broadened the horizons for anyone looking for suitable and appropriate audition material. Students will be thrilled to perform these fun, new, fresh, quirky and up to date pieces." Dave King (Drama Teacher and LAMDA Tutor)

Acting Exams: A Teacher's Guide is an invaluable resource for any teacher preparing students for a LAMDA exam in Acting. It accompanies the LAMDA Acting Anthology, Volume 3, which contains all of the scenes set for Acting exams at Grades 1-5. For each solo scene and duologue, this book provides a two-page chapter of teaching ideas. These ideas include group and solo work and range from voice and movement exercises, character studies, improvisations and themed games to research tasks, creative writing and art projects. Also included are guides to the assessment criteria and marking scheme for each exam. This book also covers essential acting skills and contains a wealth of general advice on teaching drama to children. As such, it will be of huge value to any teacher, not only those whose students will be working on one of the set scenes in the LAMDA Acting Anthology, Volume 3. This is the first volume of Acting Exams: A Teacher's Guide. It provides resources for teachers preparing students for an Acting exam at Grades 1-3. The second volume is for teachers whose students are taking an exam at Grades 4 or 5. Kerry Woods (consultant editor) is a teacher, performer, writer and examiner.

Scenic effects involving rotating turntables, tracking stage wagons, and the vertical movement of curtains and painted drops have become common in both Broadway and Regional theatre productions. The machines that drive these effects range from small pneumatic cylinders pushing loads of a few pounds an inch or two, to 40 horsepower winches running multi-ton scenery at speeds 6 feet per second or more. Usually this machinery is designed by theatre technicians specifically for a particular show's effect. Compared to general industry, this design process is short, often only a few days long, it is done by one person, design teams are rare, and it is done in the absence of reference material specifically addressing the issues involved. The main goal of this book is to remedy this last situation. Mechanical Design for the Stage will be a reference for you that will: * provide the basic engineering formulas needed to predict the forces, torques, speeds, and power required by a given move * give a technician a design process to follow which will direct their work from general concepts to specific detail as a design evolves, and * show many examples of traditional stage machinery designs. The book's emphasis will be on following standard engineering design and construction practices, and developing machines that are functional, efficient to build, easily maintained, and safe to use.
