Lal Kitab is a treatise on Samudrika Shashtra. This is an effort to present the astrological elements contained in Lal Kitab in a systematic manner so as to make it more meaningful. However, the matter still lacks continuity and needs to be read from beginning to end like a descriptive novel time and again, so that the contents may be revealed automatically. It would be better to experiment with the elements of Lal Kitab before forming a personal opinion about the knowledge contained in the book. This would help understand the subject clearly. Exploration and formation of personal opinion is foundation of progress. But self-created suppositions without mastering Lal Kitab fundamentals would create complications in the way of understanding the subject. Therefore, first experiment with Lal Kitab dedicatedly before forming personal opinion. If the reader is not well versed with construction and rectification of the birth chart, he should primarily delve with the birth chart that has been caste according to the tenets of Hindu or Vedic astrology and then experiment. However, Lal Kitab ordains that one should not deal with his own horoscope or hand because it would create a great hurdle in learning the subject, because it would create more interest in the self than in the subject. The subject may enable a person to seek day of demise, secrets or satanic characteristics of a person. It may also enable him to know what is the gender of pregnancy, but to lay these facts bare to all may promote satanic tendencies and sinful attitude in the society; and the person is liable to suffer and pay the price through disease and suffering. Astrology is a sacred science and a mathematical system that aims at bringing about peace and balance in the society. It is neither magic nor a weapon of attack on others. It is an effort to remove obstacles from the path of life through simple measures so that an individual may take advantage of his luck and reach his destiny smoothly. For a long time, I was getting a customer feedback to rewrite my thesis on Lal kitab to give it a shape of a ready reckner or a practical manual to be consulted without the help of a trained astrologer. Praparation of such self help manual on Lal kitab was a real challenge, however, almighty has allowed me to attempt. The reader should go through the book vigilantly. If he or she finds some faults and pitfalls those should point them out to the publishers and the author for rectification. Such a person would be the best friend of science and the society. This act of kindness shall be gratefully acknowledged individually and mentioned in the acknowledgement in subsequent edition. To seek knowledge, truth and reality is one's Natural Right but to criticize others or make fun of any one is unethical and sinful. Gentlemanliness warrants that one should endeavour to benefit from the acquired knowledge and serve the humanity.

Who is not in distress in the present era' Some are anguished mentally some physically some by children some by spouse. There is no harmony in the family as before. Everybody wants to cook one's meal separately. The tradition of the joint family has already been shattered. One who is in trouble primarily wants freedom from it be it only a minor wound. His first priority remains to get relief from the pain whatsoever it may cost. The author of Lal Kitab had understood this principle much earlier and created trials or remedies imbibing good conduct righteousness and fundamental code of social and universal conduct along with the interweave of astrology so that the person might secure relief from the pain as well as remain connected with the societal customs. Most of the people in India are very well acquainted with the name of 'Lal Kitab' Originally this book was written by Shri. Girdhari Lal Sharma in Urdu language. Subsequently it was translated into Hindi language. Some adulteration is quite natural in the translated version of the original text. Primarily our rishi-maharshis godmen astrologers fortune-tellers like Narad Parashar Kalidas Varahmihir Jaimini Bhrigu etc. and the contemporary saints had prescribed yajna hawan worship chanting God's name rituals and donations to mitigate the bad effect of planets. Later on acknowledging the paucity of money and time Shri Girdhari Lal Sharma the author of the original Lal Kitab proposed remedies that were simple and required least expense of money. These easy remedies became very popular in India. Keeping in mind a code of conduct dharma practical aspects good conduct and the basic principles of life and the need for proper discipline in society the author had suggested the remedies which were accepted by the common men by heart. For example respect of elders service to parents offering grass to cow offering bread to dog feeding monkeys with gram and jaggery etc. are such remedies that can easily be done by everybody. The principality of twelve signs and nine planets of Indian astrology has also been accepted by Lal Kitab. The mere difference is that whereas in the prevalent astrology the ascendant is determined by the time of birth Lal Kitab always keeps it between Aries and Pisces.

Lal Kitab is not different from the ancient Vedic astrology as No single astrologer can match thousands of Saints who could formulate the Vedic astrology. Every concept developed thereafter has simplified the concept of Vedic astrology and delivered practically with time factor. In the Northern part of India, people are aware of 'Lal Kitab, ' originally written by Shri Girdhari Lal Sharma in Urdu and later translated into Hindi. In Vedic astrology Prashar system or otherwise, traditionally, sages, astrologers, and saints recommended elaborate rituals to counteract planetary effects. However, due to time and money constraints, Shri Girdhari Lal Sharma proposed simpler and more affordable remedies in the original Lal Kitab, which became popular. We should be clear that both ancient astrology and Lal Kitab are complementary to each other, not opposed. This book simplifies the concept of Lal Kitab and brings out the rituals or remedies which can be easily performed with little or no knowledge of astrology. Where the difference lies is that Lal Kitab does not consider the setting planet and retrograde planet while giving results nor does it consider the horoscope of Moon ascendant while giving results. Lal Kitab has considered the Ascendant as Aries and has given the results from whichever house the planets are placed in. I find this is the simplest form as so much precision of birth time is not required. Lal Kitab does not consider Dasha/Antardasha and just based the results of your year on the results and transiting planets. In ancient astrology predictions are based on navamsha Kundli, divisional charts, and Dasha/Antar Dasha. As per Lal Kitab, the same planet can give good or bad results depending upon its strength which depends upon if it is sitting in a friendly house and friendly signs or under the effect of enemies. Let us be clear that there is no match or ancient astrology and Lal Kitab is a simpler version with ready-made solutions. We do not cover Yogas, Dasha Antar Dasha, Moon or Sun Ascendant. I still remember the lesson from a very old and blind astrologer, when someone asked him when the rain would stop. He just asked the time and said that the rain would stop at this time. When I asked him how he could predict without detailed calculations, he simply mentioned that the Moon would change its Nakshatra at that time and that rain should stop. Maximum of time, these predictions turn out to be true. Lal Kitab has tried to simplify the concepts and remedies. If these are understood properly, it may help to more agreement by the people. These remedies can be performed without spending much of the money. If the scientific methods of this book are explained well then many people will start believing in it. That is why we have written it in a very simple manner and just as everything needs to change with time, the same has been done in Lal Kitab as well it is written in Lal Kitab that when you go near the cremation grounds, you should drop a rupee or two. Shiva is the destroyer and hence his idol is installed in the cremation ground. Copper money is Surya which is related to the soul and when the person drops the copper money inside the crematorium, Lord Shankar bestows divine power on him. Most of the remedies are written in Lal Kitab, which means that by adopting its rules, problems/sufferings and obstacles are removed. But the result is less applicable because only the factor has been taken and unless the formula for the entire result is considered, the entire result is not applicable. Read less

The maiden issue of Lal Kitab School of astrology came into existence in the form of Ilme Samudrik Ke Lal Kitab Ke Arman in 1939 A. D. which was having 383 pages. The other issues which hit the market were Ilme Samudrik Ki Lal Kitab Ke Farman 1940 having 280 pages. This book was supplementary to the 1939 publication. Lal Kitab published in 1941 gained fame as Gutaka, however, it was titled as Lal Kitab Tisra Hissa having a binding of 428 pages. In 1942 fourth part of this book was published and christened as Ilme Samudrik Ki Lal Kitab. This book was bundled in 384 pages.Lal Kitab was christened thus due to its red outer cover probably keeping in view the auspiciousness of the colour in Hindu mythology. This book deals with the Samudrik Shastra of occult, a science based on palmistry/phrenology and other associated fields. Though it is a part and parcel of Vedic astrology, its contours are different and has its own grammar. For example, the house of ascendant would always be No. 1 irrespective of the position of the planets.

Jabir ibn Hayyan, for a long time the reigning alchemical authority both in Islam and the Latin West, has exercised numerous generations of scholars. To be sure, it is not only the vexed question of the historical authorship and dating of the grand corpus Jabirianum which poses a serious scholarly challenge; equally challenging is the task of unraveling all those obscure and tantalizing discourses which it contains. This book, which marks the first full-scale study of Jabir ever to be published in the English language, takes up both challenges. The author begins by critically reexamining the historical foundations of the prevalent view that the Jabirian corpus is the work not of an 8th-century individual, but that of several generations of Shi'i authors belonging to the following century and later. Tentatively concluding that this view is problematic, the author, therefore, infers that its methodological implications are also problematic. Thus, developing its own methodological matrix, the book takes up the second challenge, namely that of a substantive analysis and explication of a Jabirian discourse, the Book of Stones. Here explicating Jabir's notions of substance and qualities, analyzing his ontological theory of language and unraveling the metaphysics of his Science of Balance, the author reconstructs the doctrinal context of the Stones and expounds its central theme. He then presents an authoritative critical edition of a substantial selection of the text of the Stones, based on all available manuscripts. This critical edition has been translated in its entirety and is provided with exhaustive commentaries and textual notes -- another pioneering feature of this book: for this is the first English translation of a Jabirian text to emerge in print after a whole century. An outstanding contribution is that it announces and presents an exciting textual discovery: the author has found in the Stones a hitherto unknown Arabic translation of part of Aristotle's Categories. Given that we have so far known of only one other, and possibly later, classical Arabic translation of the Greek text, Haq's discovery gives this book an historical importance.

The book records the essential discoveries of mathematical and computational scientists in chronological order, following the birth of ideas on the basis of prior ideas ad infinitum. The authors document the winding path of mathematical scholarship throughout history, and most importantly, the thought process of each individual that resulted in the mastery of their subject. The book implicitly addresses the nature and character of every scientist as one tries to understand their visible actions in both adverse and congenial environments. The authors hope that this will enable the reader to understand their mode of thinking, and perhaps even to emulate their virtues in life.
