History of Classical Mechanics Classical Mechanics is one of the most important foundations of theoretical physics. The term "Classical Mechanics" refers to the system of mathematical physics that began in the 17th century by Isaac Newton based on the astronomical theories of Johannes Kepler and Tycho Brahe.
