Keeping the Truth Alive! Introduction: This is a nursery rhyme style children's book about an iconic historical figure in American history. Her name is Sojourner Truth! Although the book is written in a style suitable for ages 3-12, the information in this American history educational book which is very seldom told, can be useful for all ages. This is a nursery rhyme style time line of the trials and tribulations of an enslaved Heroine who stood tall against her oppressor, and fought against inequality, racism, and injustice. She fought the system that re-captured her son and subjugated him back into the institution of slavery. She also beat a murder trial, which was next to impossible for a 'Black' person during her time. This children's book is only a fraction of the many things that Sojourner Truth has accomplished and endured. This book is dedicated to my parents: Benjamin F. Mcliechey (Born 2-13-1931 / Died 1-29-2021) Ruth M. Mcliechey (Born 7-22-1935 / Died 5-8-2021) and also a special adopted mother of mines whom I never had the pleasure of meeting, her name was *SHAHEENA ISMAIL KHAN* she is the mother of Moshin Khan who digitally enhanced my illustrations . She died just 3 days after my mother died. May God accept them all in the hereafter ameen ! R.I.P. Love your son Cory Mcliechey!

“How do we recognize the moment our future has been written for us? In To Keep the Sun Alive, as the Islamic Revolution looms just outside the gate of an Iranian family orchard, Rabeah Ghaffari has built a world so lush, so precise that you will find yourself rewriting history if only to imagine it could still exist.”—Mira Jacob, author of The Sleepwalker’s Guide to Dancing "[A] tenderhearted début novel . . . A wide–ranging narrative, showing the enduring ramifications of filial and political violence." —The New Yorker The year is 1979. The Iranian Revolution is just around the corner. In the northeastern city of Naishapur, a retired judge and his wife, Bibi–Khanoom, continue to run their ancient family orchard, growing apples, plums, peaches, and sour cherries. The days here are marked by long, elaborate lunches on the terrace where the judge and his wife mediate disputes between aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews that foreshadow the looming national crisis to come. Will the monarchy survive the revolutionary tide gathering across the country? Will the judge’s brother, a powerful cleric, take political control of the town or remain only a religious leader? And yet, life goes on. Bibi–Khanoom’s grandniece secretly falls in love with the judge’s grandnephew and dreams of a career on the stage. His other grandnephew withers away on opium dreams. A widowed father longs for a life in Europe. A strained marriage slowly unravels. The orchard trees bloom and fruit as the streets in the capital grow violent. And a once–in–a–lifetime solar eclipse, set to occur on one of the holiest days of year, finally causes the family—and the country—to break. Told through a host of unforgettable characters, ranging from servants and young children to intimate friends, To Keep the Sun Alive reveals the personal behind the political, reminding us of the human lives that animate historical events.

Since its founding in 1950, the Metaphysical Society of America has remained a pluralistic community dedicated to rigorous philosophical inquiry into the most basic metaphysical questions. At each year’s conference, the presidential address offers original insights into metaphysical questions. Both the insights and the questions are as perennial as they are relevant to contemporary philosophers. This volume collects eighteen of the finest representatives from those presidential addresses, including contributions from George Allan, Richard Bernstein, Norris Clarke, Vincent Colapietro, Frederick Ferré, Jorge J. E. Gracia, Joseph Grange, Marjorie Grene, George Klubertanz, Ivor Leclerc, Ralph McInerny, Ernan McMullin, Joseph Owens, John Herman Randall, Jr., Nicholas Rescher, Stanley Rosen, John E. Smith, and Robert Sokolowski. Also included are Paul Weiss’s inaugural address to the Society, an introduction chronicling the history of the Society, and an original Foreword by William Desmond and Epilogue by Robert Neville.
