This document is the result of a planning process initiated by the Kansas Historical Society's Cultural Resources Division (CRD) with input from a variety of state and federal agencies, preservation organizations, and the public. The CRD carries out many preservation functions in Kansas, including assisting the State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) in assuring compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, implementing state and federal grant and tax credit programs, managing and maintaining the historic property and archeological site inventories for Kansas, interpreting the history and prehistory of the state as reflected by material culture, and developing and implementing educational programming for all Kansans. ...
