I have always had people who knew my mother tell me that someday someone should write a book about that woman. While I sometimes had the inclination to write her story, I never seemed to find the time. However, I was forced to have a spinal fusion and the recovery period meant months away from my golf game. I now had the time to write my mothers story, which turned out to be my story as well. Because this would be a totally new venture for me, I was looking for help and input from many directions. Undoubtedly, Martha, my wife, was my biggest helper and supporter. I want to thank her for putting up with Jane and her bizarre ways all those years. Martha also has a degree in English, which came in very handy when editing the book. Next I would like to acknowledge our four children, Mark, Michael, John, and Shannon. They all had to deal with Jane. They reminded me of some of Janes eccentricities which are mentioned in this book. Most of all, I want the kids to know that I sincerely regret that Jane was not a better Grandma to them. Grandmas are wonderful people and our kids missed out on that joy in life. I appreciate the input of Rosie Browning, our friend and accomplished teacher of English, who read the first draft and made many suggestions that I welcomed and incorporated into the book. I would also like to thank Sandi Faber for her contribution and editing skills. Many thanks to Dee Domingo, our neighbor and computer guru. I could not have put this book on a flash drive without her. I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge all of my friends who gave me such positive encouragement. My friend Jeanie Williamson suggested the title, and Nancy Campbell, my former secretary, shared some of her memories with me. Every story about Jane in this book is true and is written exactly as remembered by folks who dealt with her directly. To my brother-in-law Jerome Carrigan, my nephew Jay Carrigan and his wife Lisa, my niece Michele, and certainly John Nelson, I just want to say thanks for remembering.

One look from him makes her feel alive again. My name is Alexia Williams, and I'm nothing more than a human soldier trying to live one day at a time. After losing my family to shape-shifters, I joined the Combined Human States Army. Now I find myself on the front lines, defending the wall between my species and theirs. My mission is simple: keep the animals on their side by whatever means necessary, don't talk to them, don't sympathize with them, don't let them in. But then one of them saves my life. Andor isn't like any shifter I've ever met. He's a three-hundred-year-old golden eagle asking for help finding missing shifters who may be on my side of the wall. Now I'm helping the animals and seeing signs that my fellow humans aren't what I thought they were. Nothing is what it seems, but one fact remains... ...in the land of the shifters, they call me Death. Warning! This book contains a cocky gun-toting female, a hint of violence, a sexy scene or two, and hot alpha males who let their animal sides rule.

Jane is spending the summer with her odd new friend, Staffa, going to parties and wearing fancy dresses. Staffa's slightly scary mother, Lady Matilda, tells crazy stories, drinks a vile-smelling tea, and never strays far from a glowing painted box that the girls are under strict orders never, ever to open. But Jane can't resist; upon opening it, she is sucked into an amazing and terrifying new world so small that insects are the size of horses. Jane knows she must escape immediately or be trapped forever. But first, she has to wrangle a flying bumblebee, rescue the king, and free the people of Eck. Kate Saunders's The Little Secret takes readers into a wildly imaginative miniaturized world of castle balls, death-defying bee riders, and giant racing spiders. A world where wicked plots are hatched, exciting rescues staged, and where the power of friendship can be a match for even the most dastardly of villains.

She was hoping to still his anxiety by concentrating on another aspect of their research. “I was reading about the state of order and disorder.” Clem looked surprised. “The world, the universe and all life are in a state of disorder.” She cuddled closer; she couldn’t get enough of the comfort his body gave when close to her. “Energy exists forever and the Dormancy is just that, energy, but it is an energy that disobeys the laws of physics – it’s continually in a state of order! Growing, forever growing, for billions of years it has been growing!” “You mean the pattern that has brought life to this point, is still generating to realms…” Clem thought for a moment. “Of what?” How do you battle that which you cannot see and whose ability you cannot measure? How long is a piece of string? The tale begins with a true ‘ghost’ story, which takes us where no ghost story has ever gone before.
