Excerpt from Report of the Jamestown Ter=centennial Commissionsession, 1906: Made to the General Assembly at Its January Session, 1906 That the Congress of the United States has inaugurated an inter national naval, marine, and military celebration to be held on and near the waters of Hampton Roads in the State of Virginia, beginning the 13th day of May, 1907, and ending not later than the first day of the following November, and that contemporaneously and in connection therewith an industrial and historical exposition is to be held on the shores of said Hampton roads by virtue of an act of the General Assembly of the State of Virginia, in which exposition the several States and Territories are invited to participate and to exhibit the part they have taken in the historical and material development of the United States.
