Excerpt from Is God a Trinity? Now take our Presbyterian communion. I have thought it the very soberest. It seems down at the hard-pan of actual revelation. What could be more plain? And, yet, watch its operations. Regard its scenes of present revival. What does it harp upon most? Precisely those things that are capable of superstition. Excerpt from The Being of God as Unity and Trinity The occasion by which these lectures were called forth is stated on the first page. Their publication is due in part to the strongly urged wishes of many of the young men who heard them, and in part to considerations which it is not necessary here to explain, but among which the vanity of authorship had no part. That they may aid some minds to adjust new forms of thought to the old truth is my highest hope, and will be my best reward. Excerpt from The Blessed Trinity It is truly meet and just, right and available unto salvation that we Should at all times and m all places give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father Almighty, ever lasting God: who with thine orily begotten Son and the Holy Ghost art one God, one Lord not in the Oneness of a Single person, but in the Trinity of one substance. For that which we believe from thy revelation concerning thy glory, that same we believe of thy Son, that same Of the Holy Ghost, without difference or separation. So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead, we Shall adore distinction in persons, oneness in being, equality in majesty which Angels and Archangels, the Cherubim too and the Seraphim do praise; day by day they cease not to cry out. Excerpt from The Trinity and the Incarnation Most of those who profess and call them selves Christians, both in this country and in the rest of the world, are in the habit of saying that Jesus Christ is God. This is the current opinion; it is taught by the Church; it is laid down in the Creeds. But if you come to examine the average English man, you will find that he holds this opinion in rather a vague and loose sort of way. He has not thought out exactly what he means by it, nor considered just what it involves. If you asked him whether God is our Heavenly Father, he would almost cer tainly answer 'yes.' If you then asked, Well, then, is jesus Christ our Heavenly Father P he would certainly say No.' But if you went on, Are there, then, two Gods?' he would entirely repudiate the suggestion. So that he carries about with him in his mind these four propositions z - (i jesus Christ is God God is our Heavenly Father' 'jesus Christ is not our Heavenly Father There are not two Gods.' Yet he has never considered how to reconcile these four separate opinions of his together; it probably has not occurred to him that they are inconsistent with one another. His teachers have various methods of harmonising the four opinions, all four of which have been taught to him by them - methods satisfactory or unsatisfactory. But the average English man has not troubled himself with the matter. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. You might be surprised to find that God is not a trinity. The Trinity is one of mainstream Christianity’s most widely accepted and revered doctrines held by millions of Catholics, Protestants and Orthodox believers. The belief that God is three persons—the Father, Son and Holy Spirit—coexisting in one being is how the trinity doctrine is often defined. But the word trinity appears nowhere within the pages of the Bible. You can not cling to long-held religious traditions if they contradict the Scriptures. Your beliefs must rest solidly on the teachings of the Holy Bible. This Bible Study aid, "Is God a Trinity?", goes into great detail explaning the non-biblical origins of the trinity and how this false gospel replaced the true teachings of Jesus Christ. Discover how the Bible communicates a true picture of God and learn about the awesome plan He has promised for you and all mankind. But this is definitely not the case." "Many historians and religious scholars, some quoted in this publication, attest to the influence of Greek or Platonic philosophy in the development and acceptance of the Trinity doctrine in the fourth century." God the Father is the One who calls us to baptism and a new way of life (John 6:44, 65), and it is His goodness that leads us to repentance and baptism (Romans 2:4). "As even the New Catholic Encyclopedia, quoted from earlier, acknowledges: “The majority of New Testament texts reveal God’s spirit as something, not someone; this is especially seen in the parallelism between the spirit and the power of God..."
