Thinkers revisit INTRA SPACE, an artistic research project that experiments with the substances, constructions, and manifestations of our bodies. INTRA! INTRA! calls a variety of thinkers to revisit INTRA SPACE, an artistic research project that experiments with the substances, constructions, and manifestations of our bodies in the unchartered architectural waters of the near future. INTRA SPACE is a spatial, biological, technical, and conceptual infrastructure for shared encounters with Carla, Dame (maybe Vivienne), Bob, Old Man and friends. INTRA SPACE is an experimental zone, set up to explore diaphanous relations between engineered virtual figures, humans, technical equipment, and machines. Lingering between cameras, eyes, screens, mirrors, and images of selves, this book is full of movement and flicker, of decreation, of dwelling at the periphery of someone else's vision, of resolutions beyond the eye/I. Strange encounters act as springboards to unforeseen turns and perspectives. INTRA SPACE is the subject of this book, opening an arena for the companions and guests who walked in and out of this space in conversation with us.

Despite increasing interest in intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) and abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) as causes of significant morbidity and mortality among the critically ill, unanswered questions cloud the understanding of the pathophysiology of these conditions: • Are IAH and ACS synonymous? • What are the ideal methods of measuring and lowering intra-abdominal pressure (IAP)? • When should we think of IAH? • Can IAH be prevented? • What level of IAP requires abdominal decompression? Written by two experts in critical care and IAP, Intra-Abdominal Hypertension is a distillation of the current literature and furthers the understanding of these complex critical conditions. Using a step-by-step approach and illustrative figures, this clinical handbook presents a concise overview of consensus definitions, measurement methods, organ assessment and treatment options. Intra-Abdominal Hypertension is essential reading for all members of the intensive care multidisciplinary team, including experienced and junior physicians, anesthetists and nurses.

This volume offers several empirical, methodological, and theoretical approaches to the study of observable variation within individuals on various linguistic levels. With a focus on German varieties, the chapters provide answers on the following questions (inter alia): Which linguistic and extra-linguistic factors explain intra-individual variation? Is there observable intra-individual variation that cannot be explained by linguistic and extra-linguistic factors? Can group-level results be generalised to individual language usage and vice versa? Is intra-individual variation indicative of actual patterns of language change? How can intra-individual variation be examined in historical data? Consequently, the various theoretical, methodological and empirical approaches in this volume offer a better understanding of the meaning of intra-individual variation for patterns of language development, language variation and change. The inter- and transdisciplinary nature of the volume is an exciting new frontier, and the results of the studies in this book provide a wealth of new findings as well as challenges to some of the existing findings and assumptions regarding the nature of intra-individual variation.

The consorted endeavor of one of the Mastering Orthopedic Techniques: Intra-articular Fractures, attempts to deal with the exclusive intra-articular fractures. Trauma, in the current context, is the major factor in the intra-articular fractures. The principles of intra-articular fracture management have not changed recently; the articular fragments require osteosynthesis with anatomical reduction and interfragmentary compression. The new principle is to provide relative stability, preferably with indirect reduction for the metaphyseal components. All practical surgical options are included with reasons why that particular surgical option for that particular fracture type would be ideal. The surgical options are detailed, including drawings, clinical photos, surgical techniques, equipment needed, pictures and illustrations of the anatomy and operative exposures, techniques and tricks for reduction and fixation and then, equally important, an overview of postoperative management, complications and results. Each chapter then concludes with an illustrative case and references and, even in some cases, a list of tips and pearls. This book on Intra-articular Fractures, they have addressed the issues facing the orthopedic or trauma surgeon and provide an easy reference for all, including residents, fellows, attendings and even more experienced orthopedic surgeons and traumatologists in the management of these often very complex and complicated traumatic injuries.

This book explores how intra-party politics affects government formation and termination in parliamentary systems, where the norm is the formation of coalition governments. The authors look beyond party cohesion and discipline in parliamentary democracies to take a broader view, assuming a diversity of preferences among party members and then exploring the incentives that give rise to coordinated party behaviour at the electoral, legislative and executive levels. The chapters in this book share a common analytical framework, confronting theoretical models of government formation with empirical data, some drawn from cross-national analyses and others from theoretically structured case studies. A distinctive feature of the book is that it explores the impact of intra-party politics at different levels of government: national, local and EU. This offers the opportunity to investigate existing theories of coalition formation in new political settings. Finally, the book offers a range of innovative methods for investigating intra-party politics which, for example, creates a need to estimate the policy positions of individual politicians inside political parties. This book will be of interest to political scientists, especially scholars involved in research on political parties, parliamentary systems, coalition formation and legislative behaviour, multilevel governance, European and EU politics.
