Idolatry in the Church is practiced through images of Christian leaders implanted in the hearts and the minds of believers. Christian leaders are not gods. There is a demonic spirit attached to this fleshly worship of man. Idolatry of Christian Leaders is a book which captures your heart from start to finish. Written in a straight forward, honest, and confrontational style, the Holy Spirit compels Christian believers to evaluate their true motives for Christian service and their love relationship with God. Proper heart alignment with God through the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit is the book's central theme. Idolatry of Christian Leaders confronts idolatry of Christian leaders, denominations and other aspects of the Church which cause believers to walk in religion, traditions of men and deception. Abstract theology is overrated, for God can be found in even the most ordinary of things. Jesus used things like a lily, sparrow, and sheep to teach about the kingdom of God. And in the Old Testament, God repeatedly describes himself and his saving work in relation to physical things such as a rock, horn, or eagle. In God of All Things, pastor and author Andrew Wilson invites you to rediscover God in this way, too--through ordinary, everyday things. He explores the idea of a material world and presents a variety of created marvels that reveal the gospel in everyday life and fuel worship and joy in God--marvels like: Dust: the image of God Horns: the salvation of God Donkeys: the peace of God Water: the life of God Viruses: the problem of God Cities: the kingdom of God God of All Things will leave you with a deeper understanding of Scripture, the world you live in, and the God who made it all.

"The bookshelf next to my desk holds Christian classics and books I refer to often. Idols sits on that shelf, for Herb's lucid critique has been an invaluable reference for my own writings. It helps believers to understand the ideologies that undergird secular culture, and how they dramatically--and dangerously--differ from the Judeo-Christian view based on adherence to absolute truth." --Charles Colson, Prison Fellowship "Well-written and highly readable... discerning and critical analysis of our times; a stimulating contribution." --Carl F. H. Henry "This book has become a vade mecum for thousands of Christians who understand the cultural disaster of our time and are determined to do something about it." --Richard John Neuhaus, Editor-in-chief, First Things "Now that Francis Schaeffer is no longer with us, Schlossberg is just about the most provocative Christian thinker around." --Harold O. J. Brown, Professor of Theology, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School "Years before anyone talked about an American 'culture war, ' Herb Schlossberg penned an acute description of the crisis of virtue that is the domestic issue of the 1990s. His diagnosis remains essential reading for everyone who believes that self-governing republic requires self-governing and morally serious citizens." --George Weigel, President, Ethics and Public Policy Center "Thorough, provocative and especially penetrating. If you want to think Christianly about culture Idols for Destruction is must reading " --John H. White, President, Geneva College

As the Church moves forward in today's society, there is a great need for Pastors, Elders and spiritual leaders that will reflect the nature of our Lord and be examples to His flock. However, one of the dangerous extremes within the Body of Christ today is the adoration and "hero worship" of our leaders over the adoration of our Lord Jesus Christ. It's very sad that many Christians in the Church today have mistakenly given a place that should be reserved strictly for God alone to those who lead them. This book, Between Honor and Idolatry seeks to help us as Christians learn how to love, respect and honor those in authority over us without falling into idolatry to them. We must give the Lord back His place in our hearts while balancing out and developing a healthy relationship with those whom He has called to oversee us. Ken West has served Jesus Christ for over 30 years. He currently serves on the Leadership Team at Cornerstone Church in Broadway, Virginia. He resides with his wife and children in the Shenandoah Valley where he also works in the Information Technologies field.

Combining a biblical study of idolatry with practical discipleship, Old Testament scholar Christopher J. H. Wright calls readers to fight the temptation of idolatry as we consider connections between Old Testament patterns and today's culture.
