Roma Downey--best known as the beloved angel on the TV show Touched by an Angel--has created a beautiful book filled with encouragement and hope, assuring us of God's comforting presence in our lives. Ever since she was a little girl, Roma has seen butterflies as a reminder of God's presence. They have appeared to her in moments when she needed encouragement and reminded her she is not alone. In this deeply personal book, Roma shares stories from her life, alongside quotes, poems, scripture, and artwork that she prays will uplift you as they have her. Each grace-filled chapter of this beautiful full-color book covers topics such as courage, strength, gratitude, love, and kindness. Reminiscent of the message of her popular television series, Touched by an Angel, this book's central theme is that there is a God, He loves you, and that even in your most difficult moments, He is by your side. That though you may feel alone, you are never truly alone. The subtle butterfly theme reminds us that the wonder of God's love and kindness is sometimes reflected in the gentle whispers of his creation and that we all have the power to transform from simple caterpillars into exquisite butterflies. Written in a way that encourages you to 'dip in and out' of its flowing content, this inspiring book invites you to return to its pages again and again, as life brings new challenges or you find yourself in need of new inspiration.

However, by the end of the day, we feel like the world has turned against us because we have gone through a trial, or a series of trials, in one day. By the end of the day, our head hurts, our stress level has increased, and we seek an outlet. For many, that outlet is food, drinking, smoking, or drugs. We find out that "Life is like a Box of Chocolates" and based upon other contributing factors, we do not know what to expect or more importantly what to do. We feel like our trial is unique and no one could possibly relate. We feel isolated and defeated because we do not know what to do when we face trials. Box of Chocolates is designed to walk you through scenarios that are based on real-life events. The book enables readers to realize their problems are not unique. Readers will begin to realize their trials are similar to other people and they are not alone. The book consists of 365 scenarios that are categorized by WORK - FAMILY - LIFE issues for each day of the year. The book contains a five-step application process to reveal the provisions God has made for our every need. The scenarios included in the books can happen to anyone, so the reader is encouraged to depend on God and promises He has made to us through the Holy Bible. Step two of the five-step process can be facilitated in a group or alone. The facilitated session enables participants to think about the "what if" and gives them an opportunity to proactively respond to issues they may face or someone they know may face. Are there things we should value because they are, quite simply, good? If so, such things might be said to have "absolute goodness." They would be good simpliciter or full stop - not good for someone, not good of a kind, but nonetheless good (period). They might also be called "impersonal values." The reason why we ought to value such things, if there are any, would merely be the fact that they are, quite simply, good things. In the twentieth century, G. E. Moore was the great champion of absolute goodness, but he is not the only philosopher who posits the existence and importance of this property. Against these friends of absolute goodness, Richard Kraut here builds on the argument he made in What is Good and Why, demonstrating that goodness is not a reason-giving property - in fact, there may be no such thing. It is, he holds, an insidious category of practical thought, because it can be and has been used to justify what is harmful and condemn what is beneficial. Impersonal value draws us away from what is good for persons. His strategy for opposing absolute goodness is to search for domains of practical reasoning in which it might be thought to be needed, and this leads him to an examination of a wide variety of moral phenomena: pleasure, knowledge, beauty, love, cruelty, suicide, future generations, bio-diversity, killing in self-defense, and the extinction of our species. Even persons, he proposes, should not be said to have absolute value. The special importance of human life rests instead on the great advantages that such lives normally offer. "When one reads this, one sees the possibility of real philosophical progress. If Kraut is right, I'd be wrong to say that this book is good, period. Or even great, period. But I will say that, as a work of philosophy, and for those who read it, it is excellent indeed." --Russ Shafer-Landau, University of Wisconsin-Madison
