This I did in part be cause it is the usual practice in compilations of this kind, but in part also because I Wished to make sure that my compilation was preserved in print. To have completed the lines of descent from children of daughters would, as I find, have more than doubled the work and greatly increased the time required for its completion. I have, however, collected a considera ble mass of information about the descendants of children of daughters which, if I never print it, will probably be deposited in safe custody with some society such as the New England Historic Genealogical Society, where the manuscript will be accessible to subsequent investigators. Meantime I will answer all reasonable inquiries for information about such descendants. This compilation is also incomplete in part because I have been unable after some years of search to find descendants in some lines, or to identify as descendants persons whose lines I have investigated. A considerable amount of material collected in the course of such investigations may be published hereafter in a second volume, or if not will be deposited as above indicated for safe keeping.
