Download Educating All God's Children Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Children living in poverty have the same God-given potential as children in wealthier communities, but on average they achieve at significantly lower levels. Kids who both live in poverty and read below grade level by third grade are three times as likely not to graduate from high school as students who have never been poor. By the time children in low-income communities are in fourth grade, they're already three grade levels behind their peers in wealthier communities. More than half won't graduate from high school--and many that do graduate only perform at an eighth-grade level. Only one in ten will go on to graduate from college. These students have severely diminished opportunities for personal prosperity and professional success. It is clear that America's public schools do not provide a high quality public education for the sixteen million children growing up in poverty. Education expert Nicole Baker Fulgham explores what Christians can--and should--do to champion urgently needed reform and help improve our public schools. The book provides concrete action steps for working to ensure that all of God's children get the quality public education they deserve. It also features personal narratives from the author and other Christian public school teachers that demonstrate how the achievement gap in public education can be solved.

Excerpt from How Can the Church Educate the People?: The Question Considered With Reference to the Incorporation and Endowment of Colleges for the Middle and Lower Classes of Society; In a Letter Addressed to the Lord Archbishop of Canterbury In regard to the specific enlargement or endowment of St. Mark's, and other Training Colleges for teachers, the friends of the Church may fairly differ in Opinion as to the time and mode of making the attempt. He would venture, however, respectfully to intimate, that all great movements, to be successful, must prove continuous, and unless we evince some spirit of faith in our cause, and generous confidence in its supporters, the feelings of sym pathy which now bind their hearts with ours, may here after be enlisted in new undertakings. If restlessness be one great characteristic of modern Churchmen, perseverance is a virtue for which they have much occasion. That the friends of Training Colleges will persevere in spite of every discouragement, is the Author's firm conviction but if endowments be as essential as he believes to their character as National Institutions, the sooner we commence our arduous enterprise the less will be our eventual share of personal responsibility. Download The 5 Masculine Instincts Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Don’t trust your instincts—there is a better path to becoming a better man. It’s no secret: today’s men face a dilemma. Our culture tells them that their instincts are either toxic or salvific. Men are left with only two options: deconstruct and forfeit masculine identity or embrace it with wild abandon. They’re left to decide between ignoring their instincts or indulging them. Neither approach helps them actually understand their own masculine experiences nor how those experiences can lead them to become better men of God. The Bible doesn’t shy away from the reality of masculine instincts nor all of the ways those instincts can lead to destruction. Examining the lives of five men of the Bible, The 5 Masculine Instincts shows that these men aren’t masculine role models or heroes but are men who wrestled with their own desires and, by faith, matured them into something better. Through this book you’ll discover your own instincts are neither curse nor virtue. They are the experiences by which you develop a new and better instinct—an instinct of faith. By exploring sarcasm, adventure, ambition, reputation, and apathy, The 5 Masculine Instincts shows you how to better understand yourself and how your own instincts can be matured into something better. This is the path by which we become better men.

The Times Are Urgent God Is on the Move Now Is the Moment to ... ask God to ignite his fire in your soul! Pastor Jim Cymbala believes that Jesus wants to renew his people-to call us back from spiritual dead ends, apathy, and lukewarm religion. Cymbala knows the difference firsthand. Thirty-five years ago his own church, the Brooklyn Tabernacle, was a struggling congregation of twenty. Then they began to pray ... God began to move ... street-hardened lives by the hundreds were changed by the love of Christ ... and today they are more than ten thousand strong. The story of what happened to this broken-down church in one of America's toughest neighborhoods points the way to new spiritual vitality in the church and in your own life. Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire shows what the Holy Spirit can do when believers get serious about prayer and the gospel. As this compelling book reveals, God moves in life-changing ways when we set aside our own agendas, take him at his word, and listen for his voice.

Download The Value of Christian Education Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Some things can not be measured in dollars and cents. For instance, there is no way to put a price tag on a child's heart and mind or to calculate the worth of a young person who is doing the will of God from the heart. In these pages, you will discover the value of Christian education and the incredible difference this investment makes in the life of a young person. This booklet identifies specific risks of public education and shows how Christian education helps young people to develop a heart for God and the mind of Christ. It also briefly covers the issue of accreditation--what it means and why many Christian schools are unaccredited.
