Excerpt from The Hon. Jonathan Jackson and Hannah (Tracy) Jackson: Their Ancestors and Descendants In issuing this pamphlet, the editors beg leave to make a brief statement justifying its preparation. In the first place, several of our relatives, having become interested, partly through the Memoir of Dr. James Jackson, in the lives and fortunes of the earlier members of our clan, expressed a wish to learn something further in detail of its more recent branchings. It was to meet this wish that we began gathering the names of Jonathan and Hannah's numerous descendants, numbering, up to the present day, nearly four hundred. But this task soon suggested another, - that, namely, of supplementing the list of Jonathan's Jackson-ancestors, as given in the Memoir, by similar notices of his progenitors on the Quincy side, as well as of the maternal ancestors of Hannah Tracy.
