By day, I manage The Hole Punch, and it isn't as sexy as it sounds. It's an office supply store--not an establishment for vibrators and butt plugs. By nighttime though, that's when I unleash an exciting passion of mine--one that I'm not prepared to share just yet. I don't have the time or the energy for a relationship right now. Besides, sex with colleagues is always a bad idea. Now, sex with customers? That's something I can get on board with, especially since Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome keeps showing up and setting my insides on fire. Although I don't know his name or what he does, I can only imagine what he needs with piles of paper, pens, post-its, and highlighters. Maybe one day, if I'm lucky, I can manage his hole-punch.

Best-selling author Rick Riordan presents Kwame Mbalia's epic fantasy, a middle grade American Gods set in a richly-imagined world populated with African American folk heroes and West African gods. Seventh grader Tristan Strong feels anything but strong ever since he failed to save his best friend when they were in a bus accident together. All he has left of Eddie is the journal his friend wrote stories in. Tristan is dreading the month he's going to spend on his grandparents' farm in Alabama, where he's being sent to heal from the tragedy. But on his first night there, a sticky creature shows up in his bedroom and steals Eddie's notebook. Tristan chases after it--is that a doll?--and a tug-of-war ensues between them underneath a Bottle Tree. In a last attempt to wrestle the journal out of the creature's hands, Tristan punches the tree, accidentally ripping open a chasm into the MidPass, a volatile place with a burning sea, haunted bone ships, and iron monsters that are hunting the inhabitants of this world. Tristan finds himself in the middle of a battle that has left black American folk heroes John Henry and Brer Rabbit exhausted. In order to get back home, Tristan and these new allies will need to entice the god Anansi, the Weaver, to come out of hiding and seal the hole in the sky. But bartering with the trickster Anansi always comes at a price. Can Tristan save this world before he loses more of the things he loves?

We do not, and cannot, by definition, know much about the kingdom to come. But the “One Who Came Among Us” not only came to reassure us of the gift of the kingdom that is yet unseen but to proclaim the presence of the kingdom is already among us—even when we cannot see it and we cannot hear it. Sometimes we cannot see much evidence of the kingdom that is already here. How do we find it, not lose sight of it, and even share its message of hope with others in the darkness? In Punching Holes in the Dark, author Robert Benson helps us discover strength in the gifts of the Spirit and encourages us all to start punching holes—as hard as we can, as often as we can—to let the Light of the world sneak i

Each project in this book combines bookbinding with a specific craft such as quilting, jewelry making, or polymer clay, and offer levels of expertise: basic, novice, and expert. Illustrated step-by-step instructions and photographs demonstrate how to construct the cover pages, and a unique binding technique, easy enough for a beginner to master. Each project also features two other versions with the same binding geared to those with more or less experience. The novice version is for those who have no knowledge of the craft and want shortcuts, but love the look. For the quilter's book, for example, vintage quilt pieces become the covers so all that's needing in the binding. Or if you're interested in wool felting use an old sweater. This offers great opportunities for upcycling. The expert version is for those who have a great deal of knowledge and proficiency of a certain craft - the master art quilter, for example. For this version, an expert guest artist has created the cover and the author has created the binding. This offers yet another creative opportunity - the collaborative project. Since crafters often get involved with round-robins and other shared endeavors, this will show them yet another way to combine their skills. No other craft book offers the possibilities and challenges that Adventures in Bookbinding does. Readers will return to it again and again to find inspiration and ideas.

'Hello, I've discovered a hole in my apartment... it moves around ... yes ... if you could come and look at it ...bring it down to you, you say ... how ... hello!'.The protagonist has discovered a hole and tries to find an explanation. He seeks expert advice. But not everything can be explained. Perhaps he will just have to accept that it's there.THE HOLE has simple, expressive drawings by pen and computer. The hole is punched right through the book, so it exists in real life.Praise:'... a stylish and surreal picture book... line drawings combined with a minimal use of colour lends the book a stylish and elegant appearance. With few details, attention is drawn towards the simple points on each page, making the story quick to read and easy to understand for readers young and old. At the same time it raises a whole host of questions, both concrete and abstract, and invites several perusals. It is fortunate that the pages are sturdy - this is a book that will quickly become well-thumbed.' - Dagbladet About the AuthorØyvind Torseter is an artist. He has created many picture books and given individual as well as collective exhibitions. Øyvind Torseter won the Bologna Ragazzi Award 2008 with his picture book AVSTIKKERE (DETOURS), and has received several other prizes and nominations as well for his illustrations. But we suspect that THE HOLE will be his great international break-through. No online pdf can do justice to this fabulous story, as the physical hole going straight through the book cannot be visible on a screen. Still, you will get an idea of the philosophical implications raised in this book when looking at the illustrations.
