Fanny J. Crosby (1820-1915) was the most prolific of all American hymn writers. Having lost her sight in infancy through a doctor's negligence, Fanny went on to compose more than 9,000 hymns, as well as various other songs, cantatas, and lyrical productions. Crosby's hymns, including such all-time favorites as "Blessed Assurance," continue to be sung around the world. She was also involved with New York City's rescue missions and with other benevolent efforts. She rubbed shoulders with the likes of Henry Clay, Grover Cleveland, Winfield Scott, Dwight L. Moody, Ira Sankey, Jenny Lind, P.T. Barnum, and many other famous figures who people these pages. Drawing on primary sources, including thousands of unpublished manuscripts, Blumhofer sorts fact from fiction in the life of this remarkable nineteenth-century northeastern Protestant woman, in the process showing why "this diminutive woman" was so beloved.--From publisher description.

Do They Have a Fighting Chance at Love? After completing his sentence for the unintentional crime that derailed his youthful plans for fame and fortune, Levi Grant looks to start over in the town of Spencer, Texas. Spencer needs a blacksmith, a trade he learned at his father's knee, and he needs a place where no one knows his past. Eden Spencer has sworn off men, choosing instead to devote her time to the lending library she runs in the town her father founded. When a mountain-sized stranger walks through her door and asks to borrow a book, she's reluctant to trust him. Yet as the mysteries of the town's new blacksmith unfold, Eden discovers hidden depths in him that tempt her heart. Eden believes she's finally found a man of honor and integrity. But when the truth about Levi's prodigal past comes to light, can this tarnished hero find a way to win back the librarian's affections? "Witemeyer's hard-hitting Christian historical romance skillfully incorporates Jesus' parables of the prodigal son and the adulteress' rock-toting accusers into her characters' struggles with redemption, worthiness, and new beginnings. A commendable addition to the genre."--Booklist "Witemeyer is a talented author who plumbs the heart and soul of her characters while keeping a smile on the lips of the reader. Gentle humor pervades the story, never mocking, never crude, yet consistently illuminating the conundrums of life... To Win Her Heart is charming inspirational fiction that will certainly win the hearts of those who enjoy this genre."-- Historical Novels Review "Seamless writing with an unexpectedly complex plot... This novel has everything that I love about Christian historical fiction."--Christian Manifesto

Luke 2:35 NIV so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too. Michael Baez, successful author of ‘How To Pick Your Bride and How To Keep Her For Life’, feels men have wondered about women for ages, many saying and thinking deep inside, “I don’t understand her?” Though Baez feels he has explained much about your Bride in his first book, he feels Grooms don’t really know their Brides unless they know their Brides’ Heart. His new book, ‘Her Heart’, will give biblical understanding as to why your Bride is the way she is. While you read Baez’s book about ‘Her Heart’, it is hoped you will also discover your heart. To rediscover ‘Her Heart’, Baez goes straight back to the beginning, possibly uncovering key structures of the heart the way God made them. Baez also hopes to tug your heart in the process, hopefully creating understanding in hearts. Provides key Biblical concepts to open communication and get close, and learn more about your Bride’s heart. Baez hopes a reader of his book will become more willing and able to forgive possible discrepancies he finds in his Bride’s heart. Better handle marriage situations like an offense the Bride possibly made. With the Groom applying the Christlike examples in this book, it is hoped that upon finishing the book, it will lead the couple toward a stronger more fulfilling relationship. Of course, Baez feels these books he has published with the help of a church, pastors, men’s groups, counselor if needed, and the willing effort by the married couple will help the readers to solidify and accomplish a long-lasting marriage. It is hoped with ‘Her Heart’ and his two other published books: ‘How to Pick Your Bride and How To Keep her For Life’, a Groom will have the understanding and tools available that are needed to be able to stay married for life.
