The church is the spiritual kingdom of God on earth NOW. But the kingdom of God in heaven has never been about NOW. It has always been about being prepared for a time to come. The prophet Isaiah spoke of the coming of the new heaven and new earth. Jesus taught his disciples to be prepared for his return. John the apostle saw the Revelation of Jesus Christ on the isle of Patmos -- the beauty of the new heaven and new earth -- revealing those things that had been hidden in prophecies before. Believers understand that this earth is not our home. We were created for the new heaven and new earth that God has prepared for us. We cannot say exactly what that will be like because we have yet to experience it. But I don't think it will be like we are in church forever and ever. I believe the Bible indicates that our imperishable bodies will be standing on the solid ground of the new earth, that we will have work to do, food to enjoy, and people we know and love, including children, babies, and animals! I believe there will be music and singing -- even God's singing! (Zephaniah 3:17). I believe there will be exquisite, colorful flowers, delicious fruit, and many other wonders of nature to enjoy -- all without the interference of Satan! We cannot imagine such beauty! We hope to see the face of God and worship him; we hope to walk with Jesus, and that the Holy Spirit will supply our every need. We know that it will be an eternally perfect existence without sin and sorrow, and we will again have access to the tree of life! I believe that the new heaven and new earth will be a place of endless joy and love. Believers must know that this is our great hope to live righteously on earth. It is our preparation for an eternal destiny of infinite fascination and excitement. In fact, because of our complete faith and hope in what is to come, we live with anticipation as if we were already there.

Heavenly messengers, or deadly parasites? In the chaotic aftermath of apocalyptic war, the strange lights in the sky heralding the coming of unearthly beings seemed like an answer to prayer. When the heavenly visitors entered selected people and transformed them into angels who demanded obedience in exchange for the restoration of order, the majority accepted their new rulers. But Ben Garrison and his siblings, Jack and Trudy, have seen a dark side to these so-called angels. They join a rebel faction with one goal: destroy the invaders and free the world from their tyranny. When the rebels catch wind of an angel plot to invade the resistance region and spread a deadly contagion, the Garrisons embark on a crucial mission to swap the angel troops' vaccine with a fake injection, stealing the real vaccine to save the rebels. The catch: Ben and Trudy, in disguise as doctors, must volunteer to become implanted by angels and fake their implantation. The rebels' plan, however, is soon exposed, jeopardizing the mission and their lives. Their only hope for rescue lies in an odd bounty hunter, a young angel priestess, and a mysterious spy embedded among the angels-a woman whose identity the rebels have yet to discover.

For years Christians have been asking, "If you died tonight, do you know where you would go?" It turns out that many believers have been giving the wrong answer. It is not heaven. Award-winning author N. T. Wright outlines the present confusion about a Christian's future hope and shows how it is deeply intertwined with how we live today. Wright, who is one of today's premier Bible scholars, asserts that Christianity's most distinctive idea is bodily resurrection. He provides a magisterial defense for a literal resurrection of Jesus and shows how this became the cornerstone for the Christian community's hope in the bodily resurrection of all people at the end of the age. Wright then explores our expectation of "new heavens and a new earth," revealing what happens to the dead until then and what will happen with the "second coming" of Jesus. For many, including many Christians, all this will come as a great surprise. Wright convincingly argues that what we believe about life after death directly affects what we believe about life before death. For if God intends to renew the whole creation—and if this has already begun in Jesus's resurrection—the church cannot stop at "saving souls" but must anticipate the eventual renewal by working for God's kingdom in the wider world, bringing healing and hope in the present life. Lively and accessible, this book will surprise and excite all who are interested in the meaning of life, not only after death but before it.

This book introduces a vision for daily living that addresses what we confess to hope for but usually dont: eternal life in heaven. We have been misled by historical assumptions and popular prophecies to think of heaven as irrelevant and intimidating, but by reexamining the biblical picture of heaven as terrestrial and urban, and as a relevant resolution to the current cosmic story, we form a framework for living with godly purpose in our vocation, citizenship, recreation, and families.

“You have a call, Elder Wilder.” When missionary Micah Wilder set his sights on bringing a Baptist congregation into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he had no idea that he was the one about to be changed. Yet when he finally came to know the God of the Bible, Micah had no choice but to surrender himself—no matter the consequences. For a passionate young Mormon who had grown up in the Church, finding authentic faith meant giving up all he knew: his community, his ambitions, and his place in the world. Yet as Micah struggled to reconcile the teachings of his Church with the truths revealed in the Bible, he awakened to his need for God’s grace. This led him to be summoned to the door of the mission president, terrified but confident in the testimony he knew could cost him everything. Passport to Heaven is a gripping account of Micah’s surprising journey from living as a devoted member of a religion based on human works to embracing the divine mercy and freedom that can only be found in Jesus Christ.
