In He Wins, She Wins, Dr. Harley unpacked the revolutionary concept of joint agreement in marriage that keeps husband and wife on equal footing and equally satisfied. This win-win model for negotiation starts with a simple rule: Never do anything without enthusiastic agreement between you and your spouse. In this practical workbook, Dr. Harley walks couples through scenarios for the five most common areas of conflict in marriage (friends and family, career and time management, finances, child training, and sex), applying the joint agreement rule in every situation. Couples practice resolving each of those conflicts the right way, before turning their attention to their own real-life conflicts. Chock-full of eye-opening exercises that bring Harley's concepts squarely into a couple's real-world situation, this workbook is perfect for both individual couples and small groups.

When you get married, you expect your relationship to be a partnership in which you make decisions and face the world together, united. But often a husband's perspective and a wife's perspective on the same issue can be very different and unity in decision making can be tough. Should spouses take turns getting their way? Should they compromise? Can they avoid making decisions altogether? Dr. Harley says there's a better way--a way in which both partners get what they want and believe is best every time. In He Wins, She Wins, Dr. Harley introduces the revolutionary concept of joint agreement in marriage that keeps both husband and wife on equal footing and equally satisfied. This win-win model for negotiation starts with a simple rule: Never do anything without enthusiastic agreement between you and your spouse. Dr. Harley walks couples through the five most common sources of conflict in marriage, (friends and family, career and time management, finances, children, and sex), applying the joint agreement rule in every situation. And he teaches readers how to resolve conflicts the right way, so that not only are those conflicts resolved once and for all but the couple's love for one another actually grows and is sustained for the rest of their lives. Anyone who has been married long enough to have a disagreement will benefit from this unique new book from everyone's favorite marriage doctor.

Felicity Ramsey was enjoying a relaxing evening with Ace. An unexpected call on a line that few had brought the early years of Skye/Sea Security crashing into the present. Andre, a trainee from one of her hands on weapons and tactical programs, has overheard a Senator and an unknown man discussing the assassination by Skye/Sea of two congressmen five years before. The operation was one of the first assignments Felicity’s new company had undertaken for a government agency that had needed an outside contractor rather than use its own people. Corruption in the Capital, especially involving foreign money was a scandal that no one wanted. Felicity and Skye/Sea had delivered. She had been assured that no records existed about her involvement. A lie then is a major danger now. Her company and those who work for her are at risk. Timing is critical. Two teams, one to the east coast and the other to the west are dispatched. Andre is collected safely. His wife, a possible hostage by those who have realized that they have been overheard is found dead and brought to the Farm to await her husband. Jetting from Washington D.C. to Colorado with her best pilot, Taranda racing the clock, Felicity begins the search for the truth. A killer for the wife of one of their own must be found. Felicity and company follow the twists and turns of corruption and profit. With Ace watching her back, her team holding the line, she slides through the shadows searching for the man who set the plan in motion. The list of traitors increases with every answer. A landing at sea, disguises to infiltrate the mastermind’s home in South America is risky. It is the only way to be sure that everyone involved in the corruption in Washington is identified. This time the truth will win over lies told to avoid a scandal. The death toll was too high for it to be any other way.

This book considers how expressions involving number are used by speakers and understood by hearers. A speaker's choice of expression can be a complex problem even in relatively simple-looking domains. In the case of numerical expressions, there are often many choices that would be semantically acceptable: for instance, if 'more than 200' is true, then so is 'more than 199', 'more than 150', and 'more than 100', among others. A speaker does not choose between these options arbitrarily but also does not consistently follow any simple rule. The hearer is interested not just in what has been said but also in any further inferences that can be drawn. Chris Cummins offers a set of criteria that individually influence the speaker's choice of expression. The process of choosing what to say is then treated as a problem of multiple constraint satisfaction. This approach enables multiple different considerations, drawn from principles of semantics, philosophy, psycholinguistics and the psychology of number, simultaneously to be integrated within a single coherent account. This constraint-based model offers novel predictions about usage and interpretation that are borne out experimentally and in corpus research. It also explains problematic data in numerical quantification that have previously been handled by more stipulative means, and offers a potential line of attack for addressing the problem of the speaker's choice in more general linguistic environments.
