Mikael Ferreira seems to have it all—a great career, looks, intelligence, and charm to boot. But his work as a full-time caregiver at Hawthorne Manor barely leaves him time to breathe, let alone date. Then a new employee arrives at the manor and makes Mikael question whether he’s been living at all or merely existing… Elliot Olsson is Mikael’s polar opposite. Elliot’s autism has always made him feel isolated. Until now. Mikael truly sees Elliot in a way no one ever has. Elliot wants to open his heart to Mikael and connect with him on a deeper level. But wanting won’t make it any easier to overcome the obstacles Elliot knows they’ll face as a couple… As Mikael and Elliot’s story is beginning, eighty-eight-year-old Walter Hawthorne’s is coming to an end. But while his health is failing, Walter’s mind is sharp as ever—and he has a thing or two to share about life, intimacy, and love with the two young men who seem to know nothing about any of it . . . Sparkling Regency Romance from a Captivating New Voice Lady Miranda Hawthorne acts every inch the lady, but inside she longs to be bold and carefree. Entering her fourth Season and approaching spinsterhood in the eyes of society, she pours her innermost feelings out not in a diary but in letters to her brother's old school friend, a duke--with no intention of ever sending these private thoughts to a man she's heard stories about but never met. Meanwhile, she also finds herself intrigued by Marlow, her brother's new valet, and although she may wish to break free of the strictures that bind her, falling in love with a servant is more of a rebellion than she planned. When Marlow accidentally discovers and mails one of the letters to her unwitting confidant, Miranda is beyond mortified. And even more shocked when the duke returns her note with one of his own that initiates a courtship-by-mail. Insecurity about her lack of suitors shifts into confusion at her growing feelings for two men--one she's never met but whose words deeply resonate with her heart, and one she has come to depend on but whose behavior is more and more suspicious. When it becomes apparent state secrets are at risk and Marlow is right in the thick of the conflict, one thing is certain: Miranda's heart is far from all that's at risk for the Hawthornes and those they love.

A life lived in earnest provides one with a moral compass upon which to gauge the parameters of one's inner journey, the source of any lasting fulfillment. Wayfarers gives evidence of the epic miles one may travel when morality transcends the dead-end of mindless dogma and becomes, instead, a conduit to personal happiness. John Johnson, linguist A Scribendi critique Hello Mr. Cook, I read your engaging novel and thoroughly enjoyed it. I found it difficult to put away in the evenings. It was a pleasure to read with its vivid details presented in wonderfully lush descriptive passages. By focusing specifically on a handful of characters, you manage to ensure that the story is not too bogged down in historical details, which could be distracting. The book is well-organized and obviously well thought out. The plot, which is excellent, flows organically from one event to the next, toward the natural conclusion. It's especially interesting how Daniel and Jerry's lives parallel each other throughout the book. The dialogue is so well done. You do an excellent job of capturing the nuances of the characters' speech and their accents. Additionally, you do well at making the dialogue realistic to the characters. For the most part, it seems that each character would naturally say whatever it is you have written for them. Very nicely done! Mr. Cook: I'm the person at WritersLiterary responsible for reviewing your manuscript. I just finished -- and feel compelled to tell you that I think you have a SUPERB writing style, and I love your prose. Russell (Brooklyn, NY)

"Spanning the years from the 1830s to the Civil War, and moving from Massachusetts to England, Portugal, and Italy, [this book] explores the tension within a famous marriage of two soulful, strong-willed people, each devoted to the other but also driven by a powerful need to explore the far reaches of their creative impulses. When Katherine "Kit" FitzGilbert turned her back on London society more than a decade ago, she determined never to set foot in a ballroom again. But when business takes her to London and she's forced to run for her life, she stumbles upon not only a glamorous ballroom but also Graham, Lord Wharton. What should have been a chance encounter becomes much more as Graham embarks on a search for his friend's missing sister and is convinced Kit knows more about the girl than she's telling. After meeting Graham, Kit finds herself wishing things could have been different for the first time in her life, but what she wants can't matter. Long ago, she dedicated herself to helping women escape the same scorn that drove her from London and raising the innocent children caught in the crossfire. And as much as she desperately wishes to tell Graham everything, revealing the truth isn't worth putting him and everyone she loves in danger.

A brother and sister occupy their family home, which has been linked to a series of unfortune events including the death of its original owner. They attempt to avoid their ancestor’s fate and escape their looming legacy. Hepzibah and Clifford Pyncheon live in a historic manor that has been in their family for generations. The property was built in the seventeenth century on stolen land that originally belonged to Matthew Maule. He was targeted, detained and eventually executed after being suspected of witchcraft. The legend claims Maule cursed the Pyncheon family, leading to a string of unexplained events starting with the death of the home’s new owner. In the present, Hepzibah and Clifford are struggling with their financial, mental and emotional burdens. The House of the Seven Gables is a rich and haunting tale set in Hawthorne’s native New England. It’s a multigenerational story that thrives on mystery, suspense and elements of Gothic horror. With an eye-catching new cover, and professionally typeset manuscript, this edition of The House of Seven Gables is both modern and readable.
