This is the veterinary version of Aids to Radiological Differential Diagnosis by Chapman and Nakielny. The main aim of the book is to provide lists of differential diagnoses for radiological signs to help practitioners with logical interpretation of radiographs. Because the level of radiological knowledge and expertise of veterinary general practitioners is relatively low (compared with specialist radiologists), each chapter begins with a description of normal radiographic appearance. In order to help practitioners plan how to narrow down a list of differentials or confirm a diagnosis, suggestions for contrast studies and further diagnostic tests are listed. There is a smaller chapter on ultrasonographic signs which is structured in the same way as the radiology section. Another chapter gives lists of the radiological and ultrasonographic features of a selection of common conditions.

The use of small animal models in basic and preclinical sciences constitutes an integral part of testing new pharmaceutical agents prior to their application in clinical practice. New imaging and therapeutic approaches need to be tested and validated first in animals before application to humans. Handbook of Small Animal Imaging: Preclinical Imaging, Therapy, and Applications collects the latest information about various imaging and therapeutic technologies used in preclinical research into a single source. Useful to established researchers as well as newcomers to the field, this handbook shows readers how to exploit and integrate these imaging and treatment modalities and techniques into their own research. The book first presents introductory material on small animal imaging, therapy, and research ethics. It next covers ionizing radiation and nonionizing radiation methods in small animal imaging, hybrid imaging, and imaging agents. The book then addresses therapeutic research platforms and image quantification, explaining how to ensure accurate measurements of high-quality data. It concludes with an overview of many small animal imaging and therapy applications that demonstrate the strength of the techniques in biomedical fields.

Download Manual of Small Animal Diagnostic Imaging Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
When the first edition of this BSAVA Manual published in 1989, it became acknowledged as an essential reference manual for the veterinary radiologist. The new edition incorporates the expanding field of diagnostic imaging and includes ultrasonography which has now become an integral part of many small animal practices. The manual continues to serve as an essential tool for every busy practice. The new field of ultrasound has meant that those areas of the body that were difficult to visualise by X rays are now visible and it is possible to have images generated of these to assist diagnosis. Safety for clients and staff continues to take priority in the Manual. The book also brings the next stage of imaging into the picture with information on both Magnetic Resonance Imgaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) scans. This book is an asset to any veterinary practice.
