Growing up Around Tombstone is a family history of the Escapules. They are one of the oldest families still living in Tombstone, having emigrated from France during the early 1870s. The books tells how the Escapules mined and built ranches but mostly it tells of the familys life and struggles as recalled by one of the second generation Escapules born in Tombstone. There is a detailed account of family life, ranch work and horses, working and developing the mines, and making a living. The story takes the reader from the early days in Tombstone, through the war years, and up until the mid-1950s. The Escapules were a close, hard- working, and loving family. There is also a good depiction of life as it was lived by the townspeople. The book is rich in old family photographs and documents that help give a sense of the times and how people lived their day to day lives. There are also stories of many of the people living in Tombstone and the surrounding area. Ernest and Mildred Escapule and their family are the main characters. Tombstone, Arizona, became world famous for the rich silver and gold strike before the turn of the century, its lawless days, and the gun fight at the O K Corral.

Her father and the employees she’s known all her life are depending on her to bring in enough business to save the struggling company. When she meets sexy rancher, and potential client, Brady McLeod, she never expects to fall for a man rooted to his land. Brady is intrigued by the leggy redhead and can’t get her out of his head. He finds any excuse to spend time with her even though her desire to travel for a living reminds him of the woman who left him at the altar. When the bed and breakfast she’s been staying at burns down, he offers her a room on his ranch. What starts out as a short-term stay, evolves into something much more. Tragedy strikes and Abby turns her back on what might have been with Brady. Now it’s up to him to prove they can still be together and that she needs him as much as he needs her. Country Mist In this cowboy romance, will an event planner who lost a firefighter boyfriend let herself fall for another hero? Haylee lost a boyfriend under horrible circumstances and can’t handle losing anyone else she cares for. When Tyson places his life in danger one too many times, Haylee confronts him, but he refuses to change. Will they run away from their true feelings? Or will they face their fears and risk their hearts?

This book relates the stories and describes the memorials of the people buried in Shelby, North Carolina's historic Sunset Cemetery, a microcosm of the Southeastern United States. The authors, an academic and a journalist, detail the lives and memories of people who are buried here, from Civil War soldiers to those who created the Jim Crow South and promoted the narrative of the Lost Cause. Featured are authors W.J. Cash and Thomas Dixon, whose racist novel was the basis for The Birth of a Nation. Drawn from historical research and local memory, it includes the tales of musicians Don Gibson and Bobby "Pepper Head" London, as well as a paratrooper who died in the Battle of the Bulge and other ordinary folks who rest in the cemetery. A bigger responsibility is to give a voice to the silenced, enslaved people of color buried in unmarked graves. Cemeteries are sacred places where artistry and memory meet--to understand, we need both the tales and the tombstones.

Love isn't always where you think you'll find it. Sometimes it's right in front of you. Rosemary Archer is tired of just gathering eggs and milking cows. She wants to follow in her sister Meg's footsteps and explore beyond Archer Ranch. When a new headmaster arrives in Tombstone, a position as a student teacher opens up and seems ideal to Rose—if she can get her father to agree. Meg won him over, so hopefully she can, too. Michael Tate, the new headmaster, is looking forward to the challenge of creating a larger school for the increasing number of children. He is excited about his new role and gets started. When the new school board is elected, Michael learns that there is an added stipulation to his continued employment—he must take a wife. Michael is frantic to keep his position and advertises for a mail order bride, sure that is the only solution. Rose and Michael work closely together as he waits for his mail order bride to arrive. He begins to wonder—is marrying a stranger his only option?
