When Jim Kim migrated to America in the late 1980s, he knew little English and had ridiculously little capital and a degree that the mainstream society didn't recognise. He started several businesses which all foundered. In 2005, he made an impressive comeback after the age of forty by starting the world's first chain of Grab-N-Go sushi bars called SnowFox, which has become one of the largest chains of sushi bars in America. In Grab and Go, Kim shares his secrets to achieving what he wants in life and synthesises them into an essay collection packed with enduring lessons and practical takeaways.

As earthquakes have struck around the world with alarming frequency, millions have realized they are unprepared for similar catastrophes close to home. Online disaster plans and older books—heavy with seismic science and a survivalist focus—leave the average reader overwhelmed with details and anxiety. How much water will I need? What if I’m driving? How do I protect my six-year-old? The questions go on—and in this book Maggie Mooney answers them. Her four-week readiness program includes straightforward instructions, forms, and checklists. Mooney explains what to expect during a quake, and what to do when the shaking stops. She also addresses both aftershocks and tsunamis. Use this guide and the checklists inside to get ready: Find your safe spots at home, at work, at school, and outdoors. Develop your emergency communication plan. Shake-proof your home. Assemble emergency supplies. By following the steps in the four-week readiness program described here you can avoid injury and ensure you have the food, water and other essentials you need to be prepared rather than scared.

As this book takes us on an eye-opening journey into the nation's school kitchens, the author offers an assessment of school food in the United States. She reveals the forces that determine how lunch is served, such as the financial troubles of schools, the commercialization of childhood, and the reliance on market models. The author explores the deep politics of food provision from multiple perspectives including history, policy, nutrition, environmental sustainability, taste, and more. How did our children end up eating nachos, pizza, and Tater Tots for lunch? How did we get into the absurd situation in which nutritionally regulated meals compete with fast food items and snack foods loaded with sugar, salt, and fat? What is the nutritional profile of the federal meals? How well are they reaching students who need them? Opening a window onto our culture as a whole, she concludes with a vision for change: fresh, healthy food for all children as a regular part of their school day.

The Housekeeper is a romance novel about a happily married woman, Rachel, that is taken by surprise when her husband of twenty years asks for a divorce. She is so hurt that she gets in her car and drives, having no idea where she is or where she’s going. Night approaches, and she pulls off the interstate to find a restaurant for a bite to eat and a hotel for the night. Donna, the owner of the restaurant, takes a liking to Rachel and offers her a job and a place to stay when she finds out Rachel is a pastry chef. Rachel accepts the offer and the plot begins as the new pastry chef impresses the entire town of Taylorsville with her wonderful pastries and outgoing personality. The local Pastor spots her running one morning and becomes intrigued by the new lady in his little town. It is not long till he sees Rachel working in the restaurant and finds a way to meet her. Rachel is not interested in Robert since she thinks he’s a priest. Love begins to blossom between the two and he offers her a job as his housekeeper after he explains he is a pastor, not a priest. There is humor with the little puppy he finds in the snow outside her back door and it’s the puppy the binds these two, together. There are interesting twists and turns, complete with an identical twin showing up that no one in Taylorsville knew about. You will fall in love with the six main characters and enjoy the love story that develops between the three couples.
