Throughout Scripture God uses symbolism to teach His children about their walk with Him and their heritage as Christians. Within these pages you'll discover the colorful symbolism encapsulated within the Breastplate of Judgment worn by the High Priest in the Old Testament. Just as the High Priest of the Old Testament symbolizes Jesus Christ, the properties of the stones on the Breastplate symbolize the characteristics God is looking for in His royal priesthood, the members of His mighty army. If we emulate these characteristics we can become precious stones in God's eyes just as Malachi 3:17 depicts, "'And they shall be mine, ' said the Lord of Host, 'in that day when I make up my jewels.'" In this world of violence, wars, evil, and injustice God is looking for a people that will be His shining light. He's looking for a people who agree with Him that righteousness and salvation shall reign. Time is short. Are you willing to do your part to become one of God's precious jewels?

If any race of women should recognize that their value is far above rubies, pearls, and sapphires, says author Terri McFaddin, it is those of African ancestry. Like precious gemstones formed within the earth, we have endured hard times, the heat of adversity, and intense pressures, and have come out of the fire as a rare and beautiful treasure. We have made tremendous progress in the struggle for racial equality. Yet many women of color do not fully understand their true worth and God-given potential. Exploring vital biblical truths, Sapphires and Other Precious Jewels empowers us to recognize and fully embrace the qualities that make us precious, valuable, and strong–sapphires of great price. Historically, the book of Exodus treats of the deliverance of Israel from Egypt; but viewed doctrinally, it deals with redemption. Just as the first book of the Bible teaches that God elects unto salvation, so the second instructs us how God saves, namely, by redemption. Redemption, then, is the dominant subject of Exodus. Following this, we are shown what we are redeemed for-worship, and this characterizes Leviticus, where we learn of the holy requirements of God and the gracious provisions He has made to meet these. In Numbers we have the walk and warfare of the wilderness, where we have a typical representation of our experiences as we pass through this scene of sin and trial-our repeated and excuseless failures, and God's long-sufferance and faithfulness.

Algernon James Pollock's classic volume is an exposition of "types" - people, places, objects, events, offices, activities and institutions - connected with the Tabernacle, the Priesthood, the Offerings and the Feasts (particularly as described in the first five books of the Old Testament) which foreshadow their corresponding New Testament "antitypes" - most particularly Christ Himself. The author wrote in a postscript to the first edition: "The reward of this modest volume will be if it whets the appetite of the reader, leading him to desire to know more of these wondrous subjects. The theme is delightful indeed as it leads the heart into contact with Christ, subduing it by a deepening sense of the meaning of the death of Christ, leading out at the same time the affections of the heart to Him to Whom the believer owes everything for time and eternity." Elsewhere he once wrote: "We appeal to our readers, especially young men and women, to give the Bible a fair trial. Read it, study it, and seek earnestly the truth." The publishers commend this book to you as an aid to such study, confident that as you read, your appreciation will grow of the wonder of the One who is indeed the Tabernacle's true Theme, and is Himself the Truth.

Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that Watches, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. —Revelation 16:15 Jesus Christ warns us to watch, to be in readiness for his coming, whenever it occurs it would be at a time when people were not expecting Him. Only God knows the time, not even the saints or angels in heaven know the time, we must always be prepared. Christ used nakedness as a symbol of unrighteousness and not being prepared. He counseled the Church of Laodicea to buy from Him “white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness [unrighteous acts] may not be revealed” (Revelation 3:18). Jesus encourages us to watch world events and ourselves to make sure we are always ready.
