It is difficult, if not impossible, for most of us to read and interpret the Bible objectively. I have espoused the belief for years that "The first casualty of biblical interpretation is objectivity." We enter our study of the Bible with all the things others have taught us. We carry all our religious baggage with us as we study and attempt to learn, and are thus reinforcing our predetermined beliefs rather than discovering the spirit of the message in scripture. For instance, when you have been taught that Christians go to church on Sunday and worship God, and there are specific requirements of what God wants to see happen during that "formal worship" time, you tend to use scripture to prove and support that premise rather than honestly seek to understand what was written. After all, those practices, rituals, ceremonies, or "Acts of Worship" are laws commanded by God, and they must be obeyed - or are they? Most Christians are surprised to find out that nowhere in the New Testament does it ever say that followers of Jesus met together on Sunday to worship. There is a gathering of Christians mentioned as happening on the first day of the week, but other places mention "day to day" meetings. We label what those meetings were with traditional language, because worship was never a time and place, but a life given as a "living sacrifice" to God. Worship is our life not a block of time. The things that God's people do when they come together are more a product of traditions, preferences, and manmade ceremonies. God's Tool Box is a challenge to rethink how we look at many of the things we do when we are together, and be biblically true about why God wanted these things to happen. If God is simple and clear about what He wants, He is not in the business of creating hoops for his followers to jump through or religious puzzles that people need to piece together and "figure out." He wants us to love Him completely and learn to do that by loving one another. Everything He call on us to do, is to support that objective.God's Tool Box is a call to a paradigm shift in how we view God's requirements for growing in love and helping others grow in love too. Instead of giving us rituals, ceremonies, acts of worship, or any list of "religious requirements," He gave us tools. Tools are used to get a job done. They are not the god to be worshipped or rituals to perform. They are practical tools with practical results.I define God's tools as anything He gives us that we can use to help others grow spiritually. It's all about being together to help each other grow in love for Him and each other. I have fourteen tools in my list. There may be more, but a tool is a support not a goal.

You will gain knowledge and understanding of how God’s great mission to redeem mankind was accomplished through His only begotten son, Jesus Christ. Our Lord, Jesus Christ was God’s gift to the world as the Messiah, the sent one from God, to restore the relationship between man and God by repairing the schism created by Adam’s betrayal of God and his fall in the Garden of Eden. Jesus came as a humble servant of God, equipped by God with all of the tools needed to accomplish the work. In this book, Rev. Garcia examines the spiritual tools included in the toolbox of the Master Carpenter, Jesus, as He goes about His Father’s business to fulfill the work of reconciliation. Your appreciation for all that Christ accomplished to enable reestablishing a personal one-on-one relationship between each human and our Father will expand significantly as you dig deeper into the book. In Christ, you will see the blueprint for the new man which He uses to restore the fallen man and repair the broken ones to be as He is, and lead them back to God. You will learn how the ultimate goal of building the family of God is being accomplished by the Lord Jesus Christ in His own body, one soul at a time.

Practical exercises will help the reader move away from the potential damage conflict can bring to the discovery that comes from learning to stand together as allies not enemies—even when you don’t see eye-to-eye. We highly recommend this book as a creative guide for any couple, at any stage of life to find alignment with one another—and God—in their marriage.”—Claudia & David Arp, Co-authors, 10 Great Dates to Energize Your Marriage and founders of Marriage Alive International. "Don’t Go to Bed Angry has a solid Biblical foundation and is full of wise counsel and great practical tools. Deb and Ron are open and honest as they share from their experiences and those of others. I have been counseling couples for over thirty years, and this great, new title goes immediately to the top of my list of books on how to deal with conflict in marriage and grow your marriage God’s way." —Kim Kimberling, PhD, author of Seven Secrets to an Awesome Marriage and the leader of the Awesome Marriage Movement. “When my sons were teenagers, they often argued. Finally one day, I sat them on our couch and said, "I'm going to teach you how to fight." They were shocked. They thought they were experts. I gave a couple of steps to keep their arguments respectful and to help them own their own feelings. In their book, the DeArmonds have set us all down on their own couch and given us the principles to do right what we probably all do, and do wrong. These principles work! The sooner you start, the sooner you reap the benefits.” —Joann Cole Webster, Vice President, Christian Men's Network “In our work with couples in crisis for twenty years we have seen the value of having conflict resolution skills. "Fights"--loud and silent--can become long lasting wars with much devastation. In Don’t Go To Bed Angry, Deb and Ron give us a pattern to develop essential skills to resolve inevitable marital conflict. Read this book and let God guide the application to your marriage. Then you can begin the "fight for" your marriage. It's so worth it!”—Mona Shriver, author of Unfaithful and co-founder of Hope & Healing Ministries. Praise for author Deb DeArmond and her previous book, I Choose You Today: 31 Choices to Make Love Last "It's often been said that our choices define us. That's true personally, but it's also a key to our relationships. Deb DeArmond has provided a practical and insightful book detailing 31 choices we can make as husbands and wives that have the potential to transform even a good marriage—and make it a great one." —Greg Smalley, Vice President of Family Ministry, Focus on the Family

Glimpses of God are opportunities to recognize, with greater clarity, the presence of God in the various places, people, events, circumstances, objects, and languages of our daily life. I offer them to you as an opportunity to reflect on how much God is a part of your life, and how He has chosen to be in relationship with you, how you have chosen to be in relationship with Him, and how through this relationship, you become one of His greatest Glimpses. They are glimpses because we can miss them if we are not paying attention. If we open our heart to His love, our ears to hear his gentle whisper, our eyes to see His light, our hands to feel His hand in ours, and our feet to walk with Him, then we are growing in our relationship with our God and exuding His presence in a clear and vibrant way. I believe that it is in and through this relationship that we are able to recognize His invitation to be a Glimpse to others on our life. I believe it is then that we see more clearly His presence within ourselves. As we recognize His presence within ourselves, and strive to see it more readily in others, then we grow not only in love with our God, self, and others, we are filled with a deeper peace, a greater joy, and a sense of being beloved. If we are open to sharing these gifts with others, then we too are being a Glimpse of God to those in our family, our neighborhood, our community, our society, our church, our friends, those we encounter on a daily basis and even the stranger.
