Ft. Pierce Harbor is located on the east coast of Florida about 29 miles south of Sebastion Inlet and 21 miles north of St. Lucie Inlet. The project consists of enlarging the entrance channel from 27 to 30 feet in depth and from 350 to 400 feet in width, and the interior channel from 25 to 28 feet in depth and from 200 to 250 feet in width. The existing truning basin will be enlarged from 900 to 1100 feet in diameter at a depth of 28 feet. Also, a new channel will be added north of the turning basin. It will be 28 feet in depth, 250 feet in width, and 1250 feet in length. All suitable material excavated from the project will be placed in the environmental disposal area and on the beach south of the inlet. Unsuitable material will be placed in the EPA approved offshore disposal site.
