Excerpt from General Catalogue, 1894 The length of. Residence in Princeton Seminary is indicated by a figure within parentheses, e. G., (2) denoting so many academical years. The abbreviations (mid) or (sen) preceding such figure Show that the student entered the middle or senior class except that in the case of students in the Seminary at the time of the Issue of this Catalogue, they indicate the class at that. Time. An additional Sign or means a month or a few months more or less. And (grad), graduated, shows that a certificate of a completed course was given. A dash without a figure marksa residence Of only a few weeks or days. When these signs are preceded or followed by the name of a theological school, it denotes that the student was received from another institution of the same kind, Or dismissed to join one. In a name a letter without a period is a letter merely, and not an initial. The'name Of a place without a designation Of service or condition indicates either a residence there or lack of knowledge as to the occupation or ministerial status of. The alumnus. A denomination or a state once given is understood to continue till another takes its place. A dash and period at the end Of a record shows that the person is still in the ser vice previously denoted. Thus, Wood, Me., '67 tells that the minister is still pastor of that church. A semi-colon and dash at the end of a record indicates that further informa tion is wanting. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from General Catalogue of Ripon College: 1851 to 1894 The preparation of this first General Catalogue of Ripon College has presented difficulties due to the non-publication of annual catalogues for most years earlier than 1864, and to the imperfect character of early records. No records under the first charter have been found, and therefore it has not been possible to give the officers of the first Board of Trustees, and it is feared that the list of Instructors for these earliest years is not complete. No records of the Faculty of earlier date than 1871 are now known. It has therefore been necessary to have recourse, by correspondence and otherwise, to those whose memory covers the earlier years, and to such indirect evidence as can be found. It is hoped that there are no serious errors; but many facts are without doubt omitted which continued search will supply, and which it is hoped may be found for the next edition.
