Download Optimization of Multilayered Radar Absorbing Structures (RAS) using Nature Inspired Algorithm Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Stealth technology is a crucial pre-requisite in the combat zone, where swiftness, surprise and initiative are the decisive elements for survivability. The supreme goal here is to reduce the visibility of military vehicles by shaping, application of radar absorbing materials, passive cancellation, active cancellation etc. With respect to multilayered radar absorbing structures (RAS), this book presents an efficient algorithm based on particle swarm optimization (PSO), for the material selection as well as optimization of thickness of multilayered RAS models considering both normal as well as oblique incidence cases. It includes a thorough overview of the theoretical background required for the analysis of multilayered RAS as well as the step-by-step procedure for the implementation of PSO-based algorithm. The accuracy and computational efficiency of the indigenously developed code is also clearly established using relevant validations and case studies. FEATURES Provides step-by-step procedure for the implementation of particle swarm optimization (PSO) based algorithm in the context of multilayered radar absorbing structures (RAS) design Helps to understand the EM design, analysis and optimization of multilayered RAS Describes the theoretical background required for the analysis of multilayered RAS Illustrates in detail the theoretical formulation supported by intuitive ray diagrams and comprehensive flowcharts to implement the algorithm with ease Includes elaborate validations and case studies This book will serve as a valuable resource for students, researchers, scientists, and engineers involved in the electromagnetic design and development of multi-layered radar absorbing structures.

Download Fundamentals of Aircraft and Airship Design Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
The aircraft is only a transport mechanism for the payload, and all design decisions must consider payload first. Simply stated, the aircraft is a dust cover. "Fundamentals of Aircraft and Airship Design, Volume 1: Aircraft Design" emphasizes that the science and art of the aircraft design process is a compromise and that there is no right answer; however, there is always a best answer based on existing requirements and available technologies.

Download Fiber-Reinforced Nanocomposites: Fundamentals and Applications Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Fiber-reinforced Nanocomposites: Fundamentals and Applications explores the fundamental concepts and emerging applications of fiber-reinforced nanocomposites in the automobile, aerospace, transportation, construction, sporting goods, optics, electronics, acoustics and environmental sector. In addition, the book provides a detailed overview of the properties of fiber-reinforced nanocomposites, including discussion on embedding these high-strength fibers in matrices. Due to the mismatch in structure, density, strain and thermal expansion coefficients between matrix and fibers, their thermo-mechanical properties strongly depend not only on the preparative methods, but also on the interaction between reinforcing phase and matrix phase. This book offers a concise overview of these advances and how they are leading to the creation of stronger, more durable classes of nanocomposite materials. Explores the interaction between fiber, nanoreinforcers and matrices at the nanoscale Shows how the properties of fiber-enforced nanocomposites are ideal for use for a variety of consumer products Outlines the major challenges to creating fiber-reinforced nanocomposites effectively

Download Radar Absorbing Materials Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Due to its extensive applications in stealth technology, much of the research effort in radar absorbing materials (RAM) has remained classified. As is the wont with classified topics, it has resulted in much awe and unfounded speculation. The aim of this book is to demystify this topic. The book in hand is concise but complete in itself. The attention of the readers is first drawn towards the historical evolution of RAM to emphasize that the elementary principles of electromagnetics lead to the fundamental concepts of RAM. These also form the basis for further mathematical analysis and design of RAM. The performance plots for the various RAM designs, to the extent possible, are taken with respect to power reflection; this should facilitate comparison of their relative performances. In order to further induce the reader to take the first step towards RAM design, we have included the relevant computer codes in a companion diskette. This would enable the reader to try out elementary designs on his own. * .EXE files should facilitate ready execution of codes on most DOS based computing platforms. The corresponding source codes with comments are also included as * .FOR files. The reader may wish to modify some of these codes for examining RAM design algorithms further. We welcome comments from the reader on these codes.

Download The Design of Broadband Radar Absorbing Surfaces Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
There has been a growing and widespread interest in radar-absorbing material technology. As the name implies, radar absorbing materials or RAM's are coatings whose electric and magnetic properties have been selected to allow the absorption of microwave energy at discrete or broadband frequencies. In military applications low radar cross section (RCS) of a vehicle may be required in order to escape detection while a covert mission is being carried on. These requirements have led to the very low-observable or stealth technology that reduces the probability of detection of an aircraft. The design of radar absorbing materials is limited by constraints on the allowable volume and weight of the surface coating, and it is difficult to design a broadband radar absorbing structure in limited volume. This thesis investigates the use of lossy dielectric materials of high dielectric permittivity in multi- layer composites for the production of low radar cross section (RCS). The analysis is done by computing the plane wave reflection coefficient at the exterior surface of the composite coating by means of a computer program which selects layer parameters which determine low reflection coefficients for electromagnetic radiation under constraint of limited layer thickness as well as maximum frequency bandwidth.

Download EM Material Characterization Techniques for Metamaterials Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
This book presents a review of techniques based on waveguide systems, striplines, freespace systems and more, discussing the salient features of each method in detail. Since metamaterials are typically inhomogeneous and anisotropic, the experimental techniques for electromagnetic (EM) material characterization of metamaterial structures need to tackle several challenges. Furthermore, the modes supported by metamaterial structures are extremely sensitive to external perturbations. As such the measurement fixtures for EM material characterization have to be modified to account for such effects. The book provides a valuable resource for researchers working in the field of metamaterials
