Being a mom, wife, or woman ain't easy....especially in the Frat House. I'm a mother of two boys just trying to survive the dirt, fart jokes, and testosterone, not to mention the body image issues, social awkwardness, and marital rollercoaster that comes with the territory of wife and woman. What I really want to say is I'm really just an average woman-JUST LIKE YOU! I'm sharing my story, my creative spin on everything from disciplining your kids to sex (no, I'm not talking about positions), just so you can see that you are not alone. I want to help you get through the day. This book is just a way for you to see that although it's average, it doesn't have to be boring. Put a creative spin on the average and just make it weird. So, if you're feelin' it, come get weird with me.

This shouldn't feel like I'm fighting a war. Remember when you used to be happy in high school, doing fun things? You said you wanted to be a lawyer, a teacher, a nurse, or a judge? You used to make people laugh because you had your shit down. You were appreciated. You had drive because you knew no matter what, you could conquer the world. Do you remember that? Really? Honestly? I don't. This is a funny book about the not so amusing emotional challenges of being a stay-at-home mom - the feeling of insecurity about not bringing home a paycheck, the lack of professional accomplishment, the loneliness, the boredom, and of course, the sex.

The minstrelsy play, song, and dance "Jump, Jim Crow" did more than enable blackface performers to spread racist stereotypes about Black Americans. This widespread antebellum-era cultural phenomenon was instrumental in normalizing the N-word across several aspects of American life. Material culture, sporting culture, consumer products, house-pets, carnival games and even geographic landmarks obtained the racial slur as a formal and informal appellation. Music, it is argued, was the catalyst for normalizing and disseminating those two ugly syllables throughout society, well beyond the environs of plantation and urban slavery. This weighty and engaging look at the English language's most explosive slur, described by scholars as the "atomic bomb" of bigoted words, traces the N-word's journey through various music genres and across generations. The author uses private letters, newspaper accounts, exclusive interviews and, most importantly, music lyrics from artists in the fields of minstrelsy, folk, country, ragtime, blues, jazz, rock 'n' roll and hip hop. The result is a reflective account of how the music industry has channeled linguistic and cultural movements across eras, resulting in changes to the slur's meaning and spelling.

America knew George Zimmer for one of the most famous slogans in television advertising history: “I guarantee it.” Zimmer rode his promise to lead the Men’s Wearhouse to unimagined success as a retail giant. Now, years removed from his stunning dismissal as leader of the company he founded, I Guarantee It recounts the journey of Zimmer’s rise, the fall of the Men’s Wearhouse, and his personal renewal. For forty-one years, George Zimmer forged a relationship with American men who wanted to like the way they looked without getting too fussy about it. He made them a promise that came straight from the shoulder: “I guarantee it,” he said, and it was ironclad. By the millions, customers walked into The Men’s Wearhouse stores in all fifty states and Canada, where they received “quality, service, and a good price,” where they bought suits, ties, sports coats, and slacks by the tens of billions of dollars. Then a backstabbing — the handpicked board of directors fired Zimmer from the company he had created and developed into the most successful men’s specialty store in world history. Eight years later, Zimmer is back to tell his story: a man raised by a prosperous and loving family, a fun-loving son of the sixties, a merchant, an entrepreneur, a pitchman for the ages. Zimmer’s ouster devastated but did not destroy him. His is a story of hard work and resilience, about a life in business that succeeded beyond belief and followed the Golden Rule. It’s a story that will teach and inspire. He guarantees it.

"The American Fraternity is a photobook that provides an intimate and provocative look at Greek culture on college campuses by combining contemporary photographs with scanned pages from a wax-stained 60 year old ritual manual. This book will shed new light on the peculiarities of the fraternal orders which count seventy-five percent of modern U.S. presidents, senators, justices, and executives among their members. These mysterious campus organizations are filled with arcane oaths and ceremonies and this book attempts to capture within its pages some of this dark power"--Publisher's website, January 23, 2019.
