Excerpt from The Foraminifera of the Tropical Pacific Collections of the "Albatross," 1899-1900, Vol. 3: Heterohelicidae and Buliminidae Test elongate, slender, very slightly tapering, in end view quadri lateral, the angles usually carinate; chambers high and narrow, run ning back obliquely on the outer border, compressed; the initial end of the test Often with a stout spine, occasionally with several small spines or smooth and broadly rounded, the early chambers sometimes with one or more longitudinal raised costae for a Short distance; wall hyaline, distinctly perforate; aperture at one side near the distal end of the chamber, sometimes obliquely elongate, but somewhat varia ble.
