Called with a mandate to encourage Gods people to become all that God has created them to be, author Billy B. Matiyabo has a passion and gift for proclaiming the Word of God and in being sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit. In Fifty Days for an Enduring Ministry of Encouragement, he presents a collection of devotionals that he prepared and sent weekly to his local church to support the congregations faith journey. The devotionals share his experiences and ideas about Christian faith, using personal anecdotes and stories to illustrate how God works in the lives of the faithful. He explores some of the obligations and responsibilities of Christians and illustrates how to find comfort and guidance in the Bible. Fifty Days for an Enduring Ministry of Encouragement covers a wide range of topics including fear, anxiousness, trust, praise, joy, the call of God, generosity, the power of testament, and confession. Matiyabo provides these devotionals as a resource to help believers stand for the truth in the midst of hostility and the encouragement they need to hold fast to eternal truths in a godless milieu.

A compassionate, shame-free guide for your darkest days “A one-of-a-kind book . . . to read for yourself or give to a struggling friend or loved one without the fear that depression and suicidal thoughts will be minimized, medicalized or over-spiritualized.”—Kay Warren, cofounder of Saddleback Church What happens when loving Jesus doesn’t cure you of depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts? You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. As darkness lingers and color drains from your world, you’re left wondering if God has abandoned you. You just want a way out. But there’s hope. In I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die, Sarah J. Robinson offers a healthy, practical, and shame-free guide for Christians struggling with mental illness. With unflinching honesty, Sarah shares her story of battling depression and fighting to stay alive despite toxic theology that made her afraid to seek help outside the church. Pairing her own story with scriptural insights, mental health research, and simple practices, Sarah helps you reconnect with the God who is present in our deepest anguish and discover that you are worth everything it takes to get better. Beautifully written and full of hard-won wisdom, I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die offers a path toward a rich, hope-filled life in Christ, even when healing doesn’t look like what you expect.

Becoming a Christian is wonderful, but living the life of a Christian is so much more. To dedicate oneself to the service of the Lord is one of the most wholesome experiences anyone can imagine. Yet, with their newfound faith, many lack the knowledge of how to properly live the Christian life. This can be true for anybody but even more so for the incarcerated Christian who has to deal with the hatred, violence, and misery that prison culture so often brings them. Many end up impeded in the advancement of their faith. Having lived the life himself and overcome its challenges by the grace of God, this book is written by an inmate for other inmates; and it details how to begin to understand what it means to be a Christian, how to follow God's will for your life, and how to triumph through the difficulties and setbacks prison plays on those of the faith trying to find God in seemingly godless circumstances. Not only will this fifty-day journey be life-changing but also it will help you come to terms with the past, give you hope for the future, and guide you in developing a proper understanding of God's will for your life. Ultimately, it will lead you to the healthy relationship God so desires for you to have with him. This is for those truly looking to know God, to worship him, and to bring him glory with their lives both in prison and afterward.

Notovitch's biography of Saint Issa, in which he asserts that Jesus Christ spent many of his missing years traversing India, is presented here. A Crimean Jewish adventurer and explorer of India, Notovitch traveled widely across the East in the late nineteenth century. He claimed to have discovered a biographical document in Hemis Monastery - located in modern-day India - from which he created this book. The bold and fantastical claims about Christ attracted attention from scholars of Christianity and the popular media of the time. Spotting inconsistencies in Notovitch's account, it was only after being confronted with these that he apparently confessed to having fabricated the biography of Jesus Christ. For some years the entire matter was considered a hoax; until the Indian mystic Swami Abhedananda visited the Hemis Monastery where a monk confirmed that Notovitch had stayed some six weeks there, convalescing with a broken leg, whereupon he read the disputed documents concerning Christ.

This book is a journey to the land of faith. That land is our own planet, ablaze with the fire Jesus Christ came to set here twenty centuries ago. For most of those centuries, Christianity was something of a provincial phenomenon. It had won the West, then its American excrescences, and seemed to be happy with that. Islam, Buddhism, and the religions of India could go right ahead and divide up the soul of the other continents. To be sure, the church’s missionary thrust never ceased driving it out beyond bounds that were too narrow. But it did so in peaks and valleys, and self-complacency tricked us back into the ghetto more than once. This is a book of living witness. It teems with the witness of the new countries, the “young churches” that live the gospel today in the Third World, in another culture, and in a situation of poverty as their daily lot. The word of God is a critique of every human society. And so the activity of the Spirit among these Christians of the church resurgent in Africa, Asia, and Latin America is a critique of the way we of the West understand that word—and live it. Time was when we could magnanimously welcome Third World Christians’ “contribution.” Those days are gone forever. Today we have to be willing to be jostled in our certitudes. And we have to be willing to change our attitudes and behavior.
