When Two Forbidden Souls Unite, Innocents are Saved. Edgar Dempsey has been a Personal Assistant to Prince Roman for over three hundred years. He is a sophisticated vampire and a respected professional. He knows what he wants in life and expects any vampire he mates to appreciate the same things as him. Fate shakes up his world. Against all reason, Edgar finds himself visiting wolf packs, driving through the mountains, wearing (shudder) jeans, all while keeping company with a sexy, dominant wolf. This is not the life he planned. Jackson Miller is a wolf shifter from the Alpha line. His father was killed under suspicious circumstances and now his brother, the pack Alpha, has vanished. Something sinister is happening in the shifter community; Alphas are going feral, wolves are dying, and now wolf pups are missing. The last thing Jackson has time for is a prissy mate who wouldn't know how to handle a strong wolf if he bit him. A sophisticated city vampire has no place in the country. Fate is laughing at them both. This book is not a standalone and is best read as part of a series. As Embry’s past closes in on her, and their little cub faces the danger she tried to escape, will love be enough to keep them all alive?

Trying to thwart the bad guys can be hazardous to your health…unless Fate sends someone to the rescue. It should have been a straightforward assignment; run surveillance, go undercover to deliver the antidote, identify the traitors, and shut the operation down. When Bill snuck in after-hours for a quick look around, he didn’t expect to stumble across a robbery in progress. Or for his mate to be the thief. It’s going to take all of Bill’s expertise to keep Connor safe when the bad guy comes looking for revenge. But when Bill gets into more trouble than he can handle, who’s going to be the one to rescue him? This book follows the timeline of the RPC series and is best read in order; however, sufficient details have been added for it to be enjoyed on its own. Scientists from different disciplines, including anthropology, psychology, psychiatry, pediatrics, neurobiology, endocrinology, and molecular biology, explore the concepts of attachment and bonding from varying scientific perspectives. Attachment and bonding are evolved processes; the mechanisms that permit the development of selective social bonds are assumed to be very ancient, based on neural circuitry rooted deep in mammalian evolution, but the nature and timing of these processes and their ultimate and proximate causes are only beginning to be understood. In this Dahlem Workshop Report, scientists from different disciplines—including anthropology, psychology, psychiatry, and behavioral biology—come together to explore the concepts of attachment and bonding from diverse perspectives. In their studies they seek to understand the causes or the consequences of attachment and bonding in general and their different qualities in individual development in particular. They address such questions as biobehavioral processes in attachment and bonding; early social attachment and its influences on later patterns of behavior; bonding later in life; and adaptive and maladaptive (or pathological) outcomes. The studies confirm that social bonds have consequences for virtually all aspects of behavior and may be protective in the face of both physical and emotional challenges.
