Superman was first published in 1938, so how come he still looks to be about 25 years old in the stories set in 2022? Ditto for all the other superheroes from The Golden Age Of Comics still being published today. Why isn't Captain America collecting Social Security? Why isn't The Flash using a walker to get around? Why isn't The Human Torch complaining about his hip replacement? Why isn't Wonder Woman deciding what Medicare plan she wants? Why isn't Batman retired? Why isn't Plastic Man stretching his dollars to afford his nursing home bills? Why isn't The Green Lantern The Green Flashlight by now? Er, never mind about that last question. But the answer to the other ones is money. As long as the corporate comics companies can milk money out of them, these characters will be kept forever young, aside from the occasional "imaginary story" or whatnot. But in stunting their growth, only half the story gets told. What does happen when a superhero ages with the times and eventually becomes elderly? What's so super about getting old? Well, it probably beats being dead. Just ask Bucky. Er, never mind. Anyway, leave it to one of America's worstselling authors who hasn't given up yet to venture in and tell the rest of the superhero story. In the case of Harry Fox, the superhero known as Fast Guy, he finds he can't outrace time or death. His worst foe though is an existential crisis brought on by saving the world numerous times only to have it result in a shallow, selfish place populated mainly by morons and jerks, and sometimes even moronic jerks and jerky morons. Living alone in his old ranch house in a town filled with new McMansions, he is wondering what to do with himself and worrying about what will happen to the world when he is gone. And the reader is left wondering if Harry is really a superhero. Although he claims he's saved the world more times than he can remember from nuclear annihilation, he delights in pooping on world leaders, which sounds more like a supervillain, or, at the very least, a person with issues than it does a superhero. Or maybe he's just a lonely old man with a very active imagination. In a world less than super, can a senior citizen still be a hero? Find out in Fast Guy Slows Down!

Your dreams belong to you. Theyre private, and no one needs to know what happens in them. But what if someone could invade your dreams? And once in, what if that someone could control what happens while you lie there, powerless to affect the outcome? Dylan Ward can do that. Struggling to make partner in a law firm and finding it hard to hold on to a romantic relationship, his nightly dreams become his escape into a world that seems far happier than his real one. When he learns about the phenomenon of lucid dreaming, where the sleeping person is actually conscious of the events in the dream, he immerses himself in an attempt to master it. Soon his nights are filled with fun and adventure, where he has the power to control events and find temporary relief from his mundane life. That relief soon pales when he reads an old legend about dream sharing that leads him to the idea of entering and controlling the dreams of others. What starts out as an interesting experiment soon turns into an obsession of hacking into the dreams of the people in his life. He begins a strange quest for vengeance, power, love, and all the things that are missing from his real world. But its when he devises a way to teach other people how to invade dreams that the dangers of his obsession become frighteningly clear. The Dream Hacker moves between imagination and reality, along the hazy sleeping path that everyone travels but cant really navigate. Mixing equal parts of dark humor and the angst of modern culture, the story challenges our notions of understanding what is real and asks just how far a person will go to change the course of his life.

How far would you go to make your dreams come true? For budding writer and filmmaker Noah Spaeth, being a Production Assistant in director Dominick Bambach’s new avant-garde film isn’t enough. Neither is watching Dominick have an affair with the lead actress, the gorgeous but troubled Nevie Wyeth. For Noah’s dream is to get both the film and Nevie in the end, whatever the cost. And this obsession may soon become a reality once Dominick’s spurned wife Isadora reveals her femme fatale nature with a seductive plot to get rid of her husband for good. Slow Down, a cross between the noir styling of James M. Cain and the dark satire of Bret Easton Ellis, is a thrilling page-turner that holds a mirror up to a media-saturated society that is constantly searching for the fastest way to get ahead, regardless of consequences. Praise for SLOW DOWN: “Slow Down is a frenetic first novel...full of unedifying characters scrambling for the elusive, perhaps imaginary, brass ring.” —Publishers Weekly “Lee Matthew Goldberg writes like a young Bret Easton Ellis doing a line of uncut Denis Johnson off the back of a public urinal. Memorable in the best possible way, also mostly illegal, Goldberg’s Slow Down is a mad man’s tour of Manhattan’s vices, follies, and ultimate betrayals.” —Urban Waite, author of The Terror of Living and Sometimes the Wolf “What would happen if one of Raymond Chandler’s 1940’s femme fatales were to join forces with one of Jay McInerney’s enfant terribles? Lee Matthew Goldberg wrings every delectable trope imaginable out of this mashup while still managing a fresh spin. A writer to watch out for.” —David Kukoff, author of Children of the Canyon “Slow Down starts fast and gets faster quick, gunning through yellow streetlights on its way to a full collision with your shattered soul. Lee Matthew Goldberg takes on the American Zeitgeist in this stunning debut.” —Stephen Jay Schwartz, LA Times bestselling author of Boulevard and Beat “Slow Down is a brilliant rush of a work charting the rise and fall of Noah and other pretentious losers. Savor this book.” —Foreword Reviews “Dark and hard-boiled writing that grabs you by the throat. Slow Down is one of those rare novels that’s so good you want it to go on forever!” —Nick Pengelley, author of Ryder: An Ayesha Ryder Novel “The plot takes off...there’s no denying it’s fun to watch rich snots destroy themselves.” —Booklist “Goldberg’s portrayal of the New York demimonde is one of the book’s strengths and brings to mind Bret Easton Ellis’ Less Than Zero. He also succeeds in marshalling a complicated plot.” —CrimeFictionLover.com
