Faeries have been in the world for hundreds of thousands of years, and Famlaer is the very first faeryland located in a remote part of the world. They are the only true faeries in all the world. There are no elves, sprites or anything other than faeries living in Famlaer. No human had ever been there until Riohan Hamilton discovered a faery while travelling the world. Finding the first fairy was quite the experience. Lupin the Traefotolp - a Garden Faery was hesitant initially, but once she realized Rio wasn't a threat, they got along fine. Rio stayed with the faeries for a few months, learning as much as possible about them. She became fluent in the faery language and followed their customs. Famlaer is in danger of being demolished, but with a little help, they will make it through. First, they must let Rio know they are in trouble and then find a suitable location for their new home. Their journey takes a few twists and turns, meeting up with unknown entities and some not-so-nice creatures. Not all of the Famlaer faeries on this journey are happy about leaving the only home they have ever known and do not want the help of a human. Enorial, the queen, must keep her subjects safe on this long journey with the help of her high-ranking fae, Grungi, Lupin, Rotark and Wonk, and hopefully Rio..

Fairies, they've been in the world for hundreds of thousands of years. Famlaer is the very first fairyland, located in a remote part of the world. No human has ever been there, until now. I discovered Famlaer quite by accident while travelling around the world. Finding the first fairy was quite the experience. She was quite hesitant at first, but once she realized I wasn't a threat we got along fine. The real adventure started right after this encounter. I learned so much about the life of the fairies and this is why I decided to write about how they come into this world, the many types and sizes of fairies and where they live.

Describes the history of the Bryson families of North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas, starting with Scotch-Irish immigration to the US in the 1700s, through to Davis and Gladys Bryson in the 20th century. Includes extensive photos of original documents, illustrations of life during each generation, discussions of what life was like for each family, and coverage of many different branches of the family. The author writes of the old photographs, letters, clippings, and historic information that he and two of his cousins collected: "I realized that many of these items resided with a single individual and might soon be gone. The idea of a way to make this information available to a wider range of friends and relatives started to form. .... Thus, I felt inspired to write this book." "It was surprising to me to see the large number of our ancestors who in every sense of the word were true pioneers and moved to the very edge of a new frontier. Hence, the title of this book: The Bryson Ancestors--On the Edge of New Frontiers."

Corruption is once again high on the international policy agenda as a result of globalization, the spread of democracy, and major scandals and reform initiatives. But the concept itself has been a focus for social scientists for many years, and new findings and data take on richer meanings when viewed in the context of long-term developments and enduring conceptual debates. This compendium, a much-enriched version of a work that has been a standard reference in the field since 1970, offers concepts, cases, and fresh evidence for comparative analysis.Building on a nucleus of classic studies laying out the nature and development of the concept of corruption, the book also incorporates recent work on economic, cultural, and linguistic dimensions of the problem, as well as critical analyses of several approaches to reform. While many authors are political scientists, work by historians, economists, and sociologists are strongly represented. Two-thirds of the nearly fifty articles are based either on studies especially written or translated for this volume, or on selected journal literature published in the 1990s. The tendency to treat corruption as merely a synonym for bribery is illuminated by analyses of the diverse terminology and linguistic techniques that help distinguish corruption problems in the major languages. Recent attempts to measure corruption, and to analyze its causes and effects quantitatively are also critically examined. New contributions emphasize especially: corruption phenomena in Asia and Africa; contrasts among region and regime types; comparing U.S. state corruption incidence; European Party finance and corruption; assessments of international corruption rating project; analyses of international corruption control treaties; unintended consequences of anti-corruption efforts. Cumulatively, the book combines description richness, analytical thrust, conceptual awareness, and contextual articulation.
