Factions are formed by citizens who join together in pursuit of policies that have detrimental effects upon the rights of other citizens, or upon the common good. Many factions are now at work: states' rights, global warming, misogyny, racism, homophobia, economic inequality, anti-science, xenophobia, creationism, and inadequate health care and education.
