Excerpt from Everyday Number Stories Suggestions for using the dialogues and the pictures. Two children may be selected to impersonate Kate and Frank, and the dialogue may be read in the usual way. Have the remaining children follow the reading and decide if the answers are correctly given. Children enjoy this, and several different pairs of children may be selected to repeat the reading. In the second and sub sequent readings, different numbers may be used so that the children will be kept on the alert. Or, the girls of the class may represent Kate and the boys Frank, giving the answer called for when all are ready. Another way is to disregard the dialogue form, and have the sentences or paragraphs read in turn, all pay ing strict attention in order to note if correct answers are supplied in the elliptical sentences. Supplement the lessons given by frequent use of measures suggested. Have the pictures carefully studied. Many of them are suitable for oral language lessons. Indeed, the entire book, if wisely used, will be of great assistance in reading and language, as well as in arithmetic. Download All of a Sudden and Forever Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
A profoundly moving nonfiction picture book about tragedy, hope, and healing from award-winning author Chris Barton. Sometimes bad things happen, and you have to tell everyone. Sometimes terrible things happen, and everybody knows. On April 19, 1995, something terrible happened in Oklahoma City: a bomb exploded, and people were hurt and killed. But that was not the end of the story. Those who survived—and those who were forever changed—shared their stories and began to heal. Near the site of the bomb blast, an American elm tree began to heal as well. People took care of the tree just as they took care of each other. The tree and its seedlings now offer solace to people around the world grappling with tragedy and loss. Released to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing, this book commemorates what was lost and offers hope for the future.

Written in the same vein as the recent best-selling titles I DISSENT and SHE PERSISTED, here is a nonfiction picture book biography of Belva Lockwood, a lawyer, activist and presidential candidate who devoted her life to overcoming obstacles and demanding equality for women. Activist Belva Lockwood never stopped asking herself the question Are women not worth the same as men? She had big dreams and didn't let anyone stand in her way--not her father, her law school, or even the U.S. Supreme Court. She fought for equality for women in the classroom, in the courtroom, and in politics. In her quest for fairness and parity, Lockwood ran for President of the United States, becoming the first woman on the ballot. In this riveting nonfiction picture book biography, award-winning author Kate Hannigan and celebrated artist Alison Jay illuminate the life of Lockwood, a woman who was never afraid to take the floor and speak her mind.
