Available online: https://pub.norden.org/nord2021-057/ This evaluation investigates how the Nordplus Programme meets the different target groups’ needs in the Nordic-Baltic region, spurs focus using Nordplus Highlights, strengthens network creation and innovation within education as well as digital competencies and knowledge of the Nordic languages. It also investigates how Nordplus may be influenced going forward in light of changes to other, related programmes (esp. Erasmus+ and the Nordic Master Programme) and in case of budget reductions. Nordplus applicants and project coordinators report high satisfaction with and positive results from the programme, with a few areas identified for improvement. The report identifies perspectives and potential strategies to be considered when planning for the programme’s future, for example by emphasizing aspects unique to Nordplus or relating to the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Vision 2030.

The title of this anthology mirrors the theme of the 9th Nordic Conference on Adult Education and Learning. The caption reflects how adult education plays an integral part in our societies by advancing new learning that generates possibilities to address contemporary challenges. While the chapters reflect the wide variety of research connected to the field of adult education, the authors agree on the ideal of combining the development of work life competences with the promotion of democratic empowerment, as demonstrated in the tradition of Nordic adult education.

Available online: https://pub.norden.org/nordiskkulturfakta2022-01/ In this research anthology on public subsidy systems for culture in the Nordic region, researchers from each Nordic country contribute with a chapter on the status and challenges of public subsidy systems for culture in their particular country. In addition, a former civil servant with the Nordic Council of Ministers provides descriptions of Nordic co-operation grants for culture, as well as grants in the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Åland. While the authors have chosen which issues to focus on in their respective chapters, all in one way or another concern themselves with the question of how Nordic welfare policies are reflected in Nordic cultural policies. The research anthology has been produced by Kulturanalys Norden and edited by Sakarias Sokka, senior researcher at CUPORE.

Available online: https://pub.norden.org/politiknord2022-724/ In 2019, the Nordic prime ministers adopted a vision for the Nordic Region to be the most sustainable and integrated region in the world by the year 2030. The Nordic Council of Ministers was tasked with steering Nordic co-operation towards delivering this vision. The Nordic Council of Ministers is following a special action plan in its efforts relating to the vision for the period 2021 to 2024. Now, after almost two years, a mid-point evaluation has been produced. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine during the period, the Nordic Council of Ministers has delivered concrete results and made an impact. The activities of the Nordic Council of Ministers are being steered towards supporting the Nordic countries as well as possible in their realisation of the vision. Efforts relating to the green transition have been bolstered by way of DKK 120 million in additional funding thanks to a budget redistribution in the period 2021 to 2024. The mid-point evaluation was approved by the Ministers for Nordic Co-operation in September 2022.

In 2017, the Nordic Council of Ministers for Health and Social Affairs (MR-S) decided to carry out a strategic review of the Nordic co-operation in the social sector. The aim was to develop and strengthen the Nordic cooperation in the social field to ensure that it was adapted to the needs of the Nordic countries and current issues, and produced concrete results. The review was to result in a report with proposals that MR-S and the Committee of Senior Officials for Social and Health Policy (EK-S) could apply to develop both the existing co-operation and new initiatives, in a 5-10-year perspective. The review has been carried out by Árni Páll Árnason, former Minister of Social Affairs and Social Security and Minister of Economic Affairs in Iceland, who has drawn up an independent report with 14 proposals to strengthen Nordic co-operation in social policy, following consultations with actors in the social field both inside and outside the Nordic Region. This report is part of a series of strategic and forward-looking studies carried out by the Nordic Council of Ministers. The report is a part of the Nordic Council of Minister’s reform project, and strategic reviews have previously been conducted on health, labour market, legislative affairs, energy, and environmental policy co-operation.
