Introduccion: Desde hace algunos años, la preocupaci#x13;on por la enseñanza y el aprendizaje de las Matemáticas ha ido en aumento. Abundan los congresos, foros y conferencias sobre este tema, ejemplo de ellos son: X congreso de enseñanza aprendizaje de las matemáticas Thales del 12 al 15 de septiembre de 2002 en España, I congreso virtual latinoamericano de educación a distancia del 23 de marzo al 4 de abril de 2004, XII congreso de enseñanza de las matemáticas Thales "Diversificación de ambientes en la enseñanza aprendizaje de las matemáticas" en México; eventos en los cuales el eje central ha sido el ¿cómo?, ¿cuándo? , ¿Qué?, ¿para qué? Y ¿Por qué? se debe enseñar y aprender en esta área. Pero hay unos aspectos que deben preocupar más a los actuales y futuros docentes; que se plantean en preguntas como: cuál es el proceso mediante el cual aprenden las Matemáticas los estudiantes?, qué orden jerárquico tienen estos conocimientos?, cómo inuyen en el resto del conocimiento del estudiante?, y lo que se le está enseñando es solo el algoritmo matemático para realizar operaciones o si hay una real preocupación por el desarrollo del pensamiento matemático?; de hecho, el desarrollo del pensamiento matemático influirá en el resto de las capacidades del estudiante por esto se considera de vital importancia tener claras las respuestas a estas preguntas. Siendo consecuentes con las prioridades de los docentes y futuros docentes se pretende diseñar algunas estrategias en la enseñanza de la matemática, enfocadas en el pensamiento numérico variacional brindando así la posibilidad al docente de poseer herramientas que le ayuden a desarrollar en el estudiante la capacidad de raciocinio. Para ello, es fundamental que el docente tenga un pensamiento estructurado, formal y lógico, además de poseer y manejar con soltura los conocimientos básicos de las Matemáticas.

Introduccion: Sobre la puerta de entrada a la Academia de Platon (siglo IV a. de C.) donde se reunian a discutir problemas de filosofia, logica, politica, arte, etc. Se leia: "No entre aqui quien no sepa geometria", lo que nos da una idea de la importancia que desde la antig uedad se ha concedido al conocimiento de la Geometria.Hoy en dia, el pensamiento espacial1 , constituye un componente esencial del pensamiento matematico, esta referido a la percepcion racional del entorno propio y de los objetos que hay en el, su desarrollo, asociado a la interpretacion y comprension del mundo fisico, permite desarrollar el interes en la matematica asi como mejorar las estructuras conceptuales y las destrezas numericas, el pensamiento espacial permite la aplicacion de las competencias numericas adquiridas, mediante el manejo de modelos de la vida diaria que tienen que ver con las relaciones espaciales, geometricas y metricas. Es necesario entonces, la procura del desarrollo de este tipo de competencias en nuestros estudiantes pertenecientes a la basica primaria y secundaria, indispensables para desenvolverse en el mundo y para lograr la comprension y valoracion de nuestro entorno, lo cual sera resultado de la aprehensi#x13;on de relaciones de tipo espacial, metricoy geometrico, disenando diferentes actividades que sirvan de herramienta al docente y que acerquen a los estudiantes al maravilloso mundo de la geometria.
