Excerpt from Entomological News, Vol. 23: April, 1912 As far as the writer has been able to ascertain, we have no record Of any one having witnessed the molting process in any of the red spiders. Since the members Of this family (the Tetranychidae) are themselves almost or quite microscopic in size, this fact is not surprising. In order to get any valuable observations of the process, it is necessary to use the com pound microscope; and since the molting process occurs but three times in the life of an individual, and occupies only a few minutes many weary observations would ordinarily have to be made in order to see it.
