In 1974, a pair of sisters—Arwen and Elanor—calling thems'elves the Elf Queen's Daughters (EQD) emerged upon the Pagan/Wiccan scene. They wrote fascinating esoteric letters of elven lore and philosophy that, when they really got going, were sent out in groups of three every week. Within months of their first publication, many other kindred joined the sisters and established vortexes around the U.S. (and some outside of the US) where those interested, who had heard the Call, could write to awakened Elves. Among these vortexes was the Elves of the Southern Woodlands in Carbondale, Illinois, established by Zardoa who would, some years later after the sisters ceased writing them, take on the Dharma of creating the elf letters, first in Florida under the name the Sylvan Elves and later in California as the Silver Elves. Silver Flame, his faithful sister-lover companion, soon joined him and they've been pursuing the Dharma ever since. This book is the first volume containing the original letters of the EQD —a Frasority of Elves and were contributed by the founders of the EQD, Arwen and Elanor, and the commentaries are written by the Silver Elves. We know you will enjoy reading these magical letters as much as we do and find the path of the Elven Way beautiful and enchanting.

Elf Magic Mail, Book 2, is the second and final book of the Elf Magic Mail, which reproduces in essence the original letters of the Elf Queen's Daughters. The Elfin Star Runes: Following the Elf Star to Faerie contains an original elven rune set of 49 runes. It is set up into 7 chapters with 7 runes described and illustrated in each chapter that relate to the elfin magicks that guide us in the spiritual evolution of the elfae peoples - The Magic, Healing, Thaumaturgy, Enchantment, Sorcery, Wizardry, and Witchcraft. These 7 groups of runes relate to an important energy on each of the points of the seven-pointed elven star: with Magic relating to the first point of the star or Will; Healing relating to the second point or Love; Thaumaturgy to the third point or Art; Enchantment to the fourth point or Innovation; Sorcery to the fifth point or Truth; Wizardry to the sixth point or Reflection; and Witchcraft to the seventh point or Celebration. The Elfin Star Runes may be used to assist you in what you need to develop as you progress upon the Elven Way for s'elf development and further awakening to your elven nature. They also may be used as an oracle system to know what the wisdom of the ancient elven has to say to you. We Silver Elves often draw an elfin star rune for further information to accompany our daily spiritual practice of throwing the I-Ching or in a tarot reading about a specific question for which we are in need of guidance. The Elfin Star Runes may also be used for your magic to write words in both English and Arvyndase, the magical language of the Silver Elves, and also in numbers. All 49 runes or sigils for these runes can be laid upon an elven star and will be found to conform to the various lines of the star. Thus, we call them The Elfin Star Runes. The acute angled seven-pointed star, which is often called the faerie star these days, was first associated with we elves and called the elven star by the Elf Queen's Daughters of which we Silver Elves were a part and who first awakened us to our elven nature back in the mid 1970's (for more on this see our books Elf Magic Mail vols. 1 & 2). We continued using the elven star in our own elf letters that we sent out first by snail mail in the late 70s, the 80s and 90s and then later, with the invention of the internet, by email (see our books The Magical Elven Love Letters vols. 1, 2 & 3). We also very commonly and quite often wore elven stars as amulets and still today have them as talismans all over our eald (elven home and demesne). Somewhere, or some when, we don't know exactly but surely in the late 1990's or early 2000's, the faerie community adopted the elf star and started calling it the faerie star. We don't mind, but we do think we elfae folk should know something of our own history and we still reserve the right to refer to it as the Elven Star even if nearly everyone else now calls it the Faerie Star, for it is one and the same. And when you come down to it, all we elves are fae from the Faerie Realm but not all fae are elves ... or faeries for that matter.

The twentieth century was a period of rapid change for religion. Secularisation resulted in a dramatic fall in church attendance in the West, and the 1950s and 1960s saw the introduction of new religions including the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), the Church of Scientology, and the Children of God. New religions were regarded with suspicion by society in general and Religious Studies scholars alike until the 1990s, when the emergence of a second generation of 'new new' religions – based on popular cultural forms including films, novels, computer games and comic books – and highly individualistic spiritualities confirmed the utter transformation of the religio-spiritual landscape. Indeed, Scientology and ISKCON appeared almost traditional and conservative when compared to the radically de-institutionalised, eclectic, parodic, fun-loving and experimental fiction-based, invented and hyper-real religions. In this book, scholarly treatments of cutting-edge religious and spiritual trends are brought into conversation with contributions by representatives of Dudeism, the Church of All Worlds, the Temple of the Jedi Order and Tolkien spirituality groups. This book will simultaneously entertain, shock, challenge and delight scholars of religious studies, as well as those with a wider interest in new religious movements.

The essential text and classic study of Neo-Paganism Since its original publication, Drawing Down the Moon continues to be the only detailed history of the burgeoning but still widely misunderstood Neo- Pagan subculture. Margot Adler attended ritual gatherings and interviewed a diverse, colorful gallery of people across the United States, people who find inspiration in ancient deities, nature, myth, even science fiction. In this edition, featuring an updated resource guide of newsletters, journals, books, groups, and festivals, Margot Adler takes a fascinating and honest look at the religious experiences, beliefs, and lifestyles of modern America's Pagan groups.
