Excerpt from Elementary School Curriculum, Fourth and Fifth Years This reprint from the Teachers College Record is the third of a series that describes the work of the various grades of the Horace Mann Elementary School as it is now carried on. The first number of this series on the work of the first grade appeared in January, 19061; the second in September, 1906; the fourth num ber, describing the work of the sixth and seventh grades, will appear in May, 1907. In the first number of this series the point of View of the Horace Mann School on certain phases of elementary education was briefly stated in an article entitled Controlling Ideas of the Horace Mann Elementary School, where were considered such topics as The Meaning and Aim of Education, Moral Edu cation, Interest, Nature of the Recitation, Correlation, Nature of the Child, and School Life.
