Universidad de La Habana y la Universidad de Chile. La investigación desarrollada por la Dra Ilizástigui ha estado orientada a los procesos cognitivos y a la formación profesional. En su labor profesional se ha desempeñado como Directora de la Educación Especial y del Centro de Diagnóstico y Orientación en Ciudad de La Habana, Cuba. Fundadora del Centro de Referencia Latinoamericano de la Educación Especial y Directora del Laboratorio de Trastornos Emocionales. Tiene publicado libros y artículos en revistas. En diferentes partes del mundo ha realizado labores de asesoramiento técnico en Psicología. Ha sido invitada a países como España, Venezuela, México, Argentina y Chile para impartir cursos, talleres, conferencias y participar en investigaciones.
