The #1 New York Times bestselling author of Countdown returns with a knock-out suspense thriller that pits a mother and son against a killer who's the stuff of nightmares. If you close your eyes, he’ll get you. Sophie Dunston knows all too well how dreams can kill. As one of the nation’s top sleep therapists, she specializes in the life-threatening night terrors that her ten-year-old son, Michael, suffers from. But she is also an expert in another kind of terror–the kind that can turn a dream life into a living nightmare in the blink of an eye. Someone is watching. He’s a shadowy figure from out of her darkest fears and he hasn’t forgotten her. In one shocking moment of violence, he’d shattered Sophie’s world forever and left her with only one thing to live for: her son. But the nightmare isn’t over for Sophie Dunston. It’s just begun. He’s been waiting. Sophie was supposed to die the first time around, but fate intervened. This time he’ll make sure that not even a miracle will save her. It wasn’t a miracle that saved Jock Gavin, but it was pretty close. A semiretired hit man, commando, and jack-of-all-deadly-trades, he knows what Sophie is up against–and that she’ll need help. But the man he’s chosen for the job is as unpredictable as he is dangerous. Matt Royd is a wild card–hard, cool, merciless–and putting him into play changes the game completely. But to whose advantage? Sophie will soon find out. She will have to trust Royd because she has no choices left. Because the bogeyman haunting her dreams is all too real and he’s on the hunt again. Because the nightmare he’s got planned for Sophie won’t end when she wakes up screaming. It won’t end. Ever.

All immigrants to America have a story with the American Dream, a story sometimes intimately intertwined with personal dreams. My story might be a surprising, if not maybe an unexpected one diverging from the usual account of pitiful existence in Haiti's slums or that of struggle for adaptation to America's way of life by one of Haiti's "boat people" who landed on South Florida's coast. It is a story that starts from the lower plains of the Artibonite Valley in Haiti with a dream from my great grandfather, Joizil Estimé, and continues in the United States, ultimately in Powell, Ohio. It is the story of a Haitian immigrant born in the small coastal town of Saint-Marc, Haiti. It evolves with my experiences growing up in my native country where my formative years were influenced by a connection to a diverse sociocultural environment. It progresses with my interaction with other societal enclaves in foreign lands like Germany and ultimately in the United States. It is an account of dreams fulfilled or unfulfilled, due not only to factors such as the convergence of different motivational agents (dreambuilders), the winds blowing on corporate America, whether in Haiti or the United States, but also to different conditions such as country of origin, globalization, social class, and Afro-ethnicity in America (dreamkillers). It is the story of coping with life changes, of integration into the American mainstream, of successes and disappointments of an immigrant from Haiti. But it is more than the story of an immigrant; it also reflects in a way the struggle of all immigrants coping with the pursuit of the American Dream and the quest for adaptation and continuous learning. It relates to all those who have wrestled with their dreams, those who have learned to make the best out of life's circumstances and keep a positive outlook in the era we live in. Dreambuilders, dreamkillers are in all walks of life.

The premise of this book is that all business ideas begin with a dream. More often than not the dream remains an unfulfilled fantasy that always can find a happy ending. However, every once in a while the dream becomes so intense that the dreamer decides to make it a reality. When this happens an entrepreneur is born and from that moment on there are numerous pitfalls that will threaten to turn the successful dream into a realistic nightmare. Most books on the subject of achieving success in small business are presented in a technical manner with specific procedures to follow and take the approach that if an aspiring entrepreneur follows the time proven steps the chances for long-term success with be improved. Why then do most small business ideas end up in failure? Using a lifetime of real world hands on experience with hundreds of small businesses this book deals with the real reasons most small businesses fail. These dream killers are the true causes of a dream's failure. They are mostly personal in nature and as such are generally avoided by how to books, consultants, and traditional advisors that tend to use a cookie cutter approach to every situation. Blending a lifetime of personal experiences in plain language with non-ambiguous answers to many of the pitfalls to success is intended to provide the reader with the benefits of knowing that there is nothing new in business and all small business is personal. Blending the two will often determine whether a business dream will come true.
