Dominic is an ordinary boy with an appetite for magic and a rather extraordinary sidekick- his magical top hat, the Topper. The two of them live happily, but when Great Aunt Rowena comes to stay things begin to go awry. Rowena has plans of her own for the Topper, and she's not going to give in without a fight. This begins a new strand of publishing for Dominic Wood, master magician and TV star. Dominic is an endearing character and his adventures with the Topper are bound to delight young readers. And there's even a magic trick to learn at the end of the book - to keep those young magicians happy.

Exploring life writing from a variety of cultural contexts, Haunted Narratives provides new insights into how individuals and communities across time and space deal with traumatic experiences and haunting memories. From the perspectives of trauma theory, memory studies, gender studies, literary studies, philosophy, and post-colonial studies, the volume stresses the lingering, haunting presence of the past in the present. The contributors focus on the psychological, ethical, and representational difficulties involved in narrative negotiations of traumatic memories. Haunted Narratives focuses on life writing in the broadest sense of the term: biographies and autobiographies that deal with traumatic experiences, autobiographically inspired fictions on loss and trauma, and limit-cases that transcend clear-cut distinctions between the factual and the fictional. In discussing texts as diverse as Toni Morrison's Beloved, Vikram Seth's Two Lives, deportation narratives of Baltic women, Christa Wolf's Kindheitsmuster, Joy Kogawa's Obasan, and Ene Mihkelson's Ahasveeruse uni, the contributors add significantly to current debates on life writing, trauma, and memory; the contested notion of cultural trauma; and the transferability of clinical-psychological notions to the study of literature and culture.

Witches, especially healers like Colleen Antrim, weren't made to be warriors. Only a select few were born with the aggressive mentality and the offensive magic needed to protect others. This never struck her as a lack, because Colleen was born to heal and nurture. That was her nature. Until it wasn't... When the man she's loved for years is used as a weapon against her, something within her shatters, a fundamental shift that changes the very foundation of who she is. Forced to use her powerful gifts in ways they were never meant to be used, the very core of who she is shatters. Magic made her. Then it broke her. Now it haunts her...and she doesn't know if she can find her back.

How on earth did I end up here? I was supposed to be at a party kissing the boy of my dreams, instead I'm dancing naked on the town common, on Halloween, with a Coven of strange women who might be witches, a bunch of zombies that I have to return to their graves, a talking crow, and my pet ghost thrown in for good measure. Just yesterday I was an ordinary teenager... On her sixteenth birthday Emily Rand discovers that she is a witch. Unable to control her spells she unwittingly raises zombies, and corporealizes the ghost haunting her house. She finds herself in a race against time to put everything right if she has any hope of getting to a certain Halloween party and seeing a certain boy again.
