Following a regretful bunch through a violent universe, Devilish: Xinmao is the first step into a new series. Already living in a traumatic world, four lost souls will witness a horror whispering madness through their memories. "With each blow, her pupils shrunk, and her knuckles bled a little more. She didn't care who or what all the blood on her hands, face, and clothes belonged to. The more she looked at the collapsed skull, the angrier she got, the tears flowing from her cheeks. She kept hitting it pointlessly with both of her hands, until that moment when the sadness suppressed the fury that had enveloped her body. No matter how much savagery she contributed just now, she could never go back to this morning. She couldn't save someone she loved so dearly. This regret, which she couldn't help, would grow into a tumour in her heart until the young woman took her last breath."

Download How Does Analysis Cure? Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
The Austro-American psychoanalyst Heinz Kohut was one of the foremost leaders in his field and developed the school of self-psychology, which sets aside the Freudian explanations for behavior and looks instead at self/object relationships and empathy in order to shed light on human behavior. In How Does Analysis Cure? Kohut presents the theoretical framework for self-psychology, and carefully lays out how the self develops over the course of time. Kohut also specifically defines healthy and unhealthy cases of Oedipal complexes and narcissism, while investigating the nature of analysis itself as treatment for pathologies. This in-depth examination of “the talking cure” explores the lesser studied phenomena of psychoanalysis, including when it is beneficial for analyses to be left unfinished, and the changing definition of “normal.” An important work for working psychoanalysts, this book is important not only for psychologists, but also for anyone interested in the complex inner workings of the human psyche.

In The Fragile Self Dr. Phil Mollon, a respected British psychotherapist, discusses disorders of the self from a variety of points of view, drawing particular attention to the work of Kohut and describing its strengths and limitations. Mollon shows that psychoanalysis requires an adequate theory of self in order to address effectively those states of mind in which a disturbed sense of self is prominent. A broader classification of disturbances of self is required, argues Mollon, who goes on to develop his own thesis that patients in psychotherapy or analysis are often unconsciously seeking a needed development-enhancing response from the therapist. The therapist's task is to recognize this need and to articulate it to the patient. In this way, the hitherto lonely and unreached parts of the personality can be contacted and integrated. In exploring these issues, many aspects of psychoanalytic process and technique are reexamined.

Yüan Hung-tao (1568-1610) was the greatest poet of Ming-Dynasty China. His poetry and essays brilliantly exhibit an originality and vitality that were lacking in the writing of his contemporaries. In an age that looked to the masters of the Han and T'ang dynasties for inspiration, Yüan believed that "as the ways of society undergo change, literature must follow suit. So it is natural that the present need not imitate the past". Presented for the first time in English translation, the writings of Yüan and his two brothers reveal these men to have been individualists who made outstanding contributions to the growth and development of poetry in their country. Unlike most other Ming poets, they were not afraid to look critically at the world around them, thus presenting a penetrating picture of Ming society as well as producing both poetry and prose of surpassing beauty and freshness.
