This report, issued March 25, 1988, revealed that the rationale for the faa's Directorate system established within the Aircraft Certification Service after the casa-212 was certified was still valid, although the way import type certification was conducted and airworthiness issues resolved after certification needed to be improved. Procedural recommendations were made and implemented that defined the roles of the Directorate and Aircraft Certification Offices when conduction import type certification, as well as improved communication within the service on this issue.
