The almost perfect harmlessness Of the perineal section pre sents itself to my mind as the proper operation to perform in all cases where difficulty is anticipated, in performing lithotripsy. With this perineal section, and the neck of the bladder dilated gently with finger, we can, with greater certainty, cleanse the bladder of all fragments of stone, and that too, without any complicated suction apparatus, which is necessary when lithotripsy is performed through the whole length of the urethra.
